Amusement parks, yacht trips, clubbing, street races… even hiking where they ran into a newly awakened dragon and taught it what real black-society brutality looked like—
Yu Jin's group basically tried every fun thing they could think of before leaving this world.
They didn't hide their itinerary at all.
Anyone seeking intel could track them easily.
The Doctor noticed, of course.
But who cared?
They played. Others watched. Whatever.
The watchers knew their limits, too.
Nobody wanted a bat-swinging maniac showing up at their doorstep.
On their final day, they finally remembered someone important.
Chu Tianjiao.
In some sense, the first person they'd met in this world.
The first who'd helped them—though they had forced the help.
But he was still one of the few people here they could call a friend.
So before leaving, they went to say goodbye.
Problem was, they had zero sense of direction.
So they called the Cassell helpline from their scholarship letter.
A girl named Norma gave them the route—and even offered a private jet.
After a quick debate, they chose…
the jet.
They had nothing to fear anymore.
The flight was smooth, no interference.
They declined further escort and headed toward the old address.
Before leaving the airport, Yu Jin quietly told the reception staff:
"Tell them to stop following us."
The staff smiled, about to say something—
then met four golden eyes staring straight through him.
"…Understood. Have a pleasant trip."
Doctor tilted his ear.
"The wind says they were hiding over there."
A second later, he felt the surveillance withdraw.
The four walked out in a neat line, silent and cold like assassins.
College Student: "Was I cool back there? 'The wind told me where you were hiding!' I'm so damn cool."
Stellaron Girl: "Cool, but you were walking a bit faster than us. Keep it up and you'll break formation."
They kept the "cool killer squad" act all the way into a cab.
Chu Tianjiao, now temporarily idle after his job was reassigned, was enjoying the unexpected peace.
His son's distance was gone.
Instead, Chu Zihang looked at him like a superhero, calling him "Dad" nonstop and training every day.
His talent was terrifyingly good.
Chu Tianjiao felt proud.
Then he heard knocking.
"Who is it?"
"Uncle Chu, you home?" x4
Chu Tianjiao flung the door open.
There they were—four people holding gifts.
"Long time no see," Yu Jin said, handing over souvenirs. "These are for you."
"You didn't have to bring anything." Chu Tianjiao accepted out of habit, then blinked hard. "Wait—why are you all casually at my door?! Weren't you supposed to be running for your lives?"
"Long story."
"Then tell it short. I'm dying to hear."
"Basically, basically, and then—bam—we became Cassell students."
Chu Tianjiao froze in awe.
"Wait, hold up. 'Basically basically' and you're students now? Didn't you guys trash Cassell?"
"We don't get it either," Kevin said, handing him the letter.
Chu Tianjiao read it—and went blank.
"So… they're not pursuing you."
"Seems like it."
"And we even flew here on Cassell's private jet," the Doctor added.
Chu Tianjiao didn't know what to say.
"So why're you here?"
"We're saying goodbye," Stelle said.
"Goodbye?"
Like they probably wouldn't see him again.
Chu Tianjiao smiled.
"…Then we need a feast tonight."
They stared at him.
"Why're you shocked? People eat good food before parting all the time. It's normal."
He checked the time.
"Market's still open. You wait here. I'm buying ingredients. I'll show you my cooking."
He stood.
"I'll go with you," Kevin said, rising. "You guys coming?"
"I'll check the market too," the Doctor said.
"Me too! I wanna see what's tasty here!" Stelle chimed in.
They looked at Yu Jin.
Yu Jin gazed out the window.
"I've got one last thing to do first. You guys go."
"Please don't stir up another disaster," all three warned.
"Last time was an accident."
"Fine. We're ignoring him," Stelle declared. "Let's go."
Chu Tianjiao grumbled but followed them out.
Soon the house was quiet again. Only Yu Jin remained.
"Then I'm heading out too."
—
"Ah, today I finally won!" a plump middle-aged woman hummed happily on her way home. "Those people always take my money—today they paid me back."
She'd been unstoppable at mahjong.
"If only tomorrow and the day after were like this…"
She opened the door and stepped inside.
"Five already. Time to cook."
She slipped on her slippers and walked into the living room—
and froze.
"Hello," said a masked man sitting on her sofa. "First time meeting you. You're Lu Mingze's mom, right?"
"What—who are you? What do you want?!" She wanted to scream—
but her eyes locked on the boy lying on the sofa.
Her precious son, Lu Mingze.
Out cold, like he was asleep.
The masked man was Yu Jin.
This was his last errand.
He patted the chubby kid's head.
"Your son wasn't being very obedient, so I helped him sleep a little. I hope you'll be obedient too. You're an adult. You should understand some things."
"Calm down! Are you after money? How much—"
"Is it the money Lu Mingfei's parents send you?" Yu Jin cut in.
She went rigid.
"Lu… Mingfei? W-what are you talking about?"
"I'm not here to rob you." Yu Jin stood and approached. "I'm here to check on your work."
"W-work…?"
"Are you pretending not to understand? Or are you really that thick?"
He stopped before her, staring into her eyes.
"They send you money. Is this how you carry out your 'task'? Did you think you could just keep burning through it forever?"
"You're an adult. Surely you didn't think that."
Pressure rolled off Yu Jin like a predator.
She felt locked in a beast's gaze.
Her legs gave out. She collapsed.
"W-wait! Lu Lincheng sent you, didn't he?!"
Yu Jin tilted his head. "You think so?"
"It has to be him! You… you're committing a crime! You'll be arrested!"
"Do you think that matters right now?" Yu Jin angled aside, showing the sleeping Lu Mingze. "I already kidnapped your son out of school. You think I'm scared of jail?"
She crumbled.
"What do you want?!"
"Shouldn't you be asking yourself that?"
Yu Jin's hands wrapped around Lu Mingze's leg.
"Wait—what are you doing?! My son didn't do anything! Take it out on me!" She clung to Yu Jin's ankle in horror.
Yu Jin calmly pried her fingers off, walked to her son—
and then… simply sat back down on the sofa.
"Don't be afraid. I'm not a demon. I'm not here to take lives. But when people make mistakes… someone has to pay. Otherwise I can't report back."
"What… what should I do? I'll do anything. Please don't hurt my son."
"Even if you say that, I can't trust it."
He looked at Lu Mingze.
"Send me back a report saying Lu Mingfei is belittled every day in this house, cursed at, wears old clothes forever? That he's treated like trash?"
She couldn't speak.
Yu Jin shrugged with a bleak smile.
"Yeah. You know I can't say that with a straight face."
"I… I swear I won't do it again! I'll treat Lu Mingfei like my own son! I swear!"
"I don't believe your vows."
He glanced down at the boy again.
"I think I should take your son away for a while. When you've learned fear properly, you'll finally know what you should do… and what you shouldn't."
His gaze turned cold, piercing her.
"This inspection? I'll pretend I didn't see anything. I don't want to dirty my hands."
She shook.
"Remember this." Yu Jin tapped two fingers under his eyes. "I'll be watching you."
"You can call the cops. Ask for help. Ignore me. Do whatever you want—if you think you can bear the consequences."
"…Y-yes. I remember."
"Good."
With that, Yu Jin stepped straight through the wall and vanished.
She stared at her sleeping son and the empty room, trembling so hard she couldn't breathe.
Later, Lu Mingfei's uncle came home.
His wife—back to "normal"—was already cooking.
Everything looked ordinary.
Then Lu Mingfei returned.
At dinner, his aunt smiled brightly and kept piling food into his bowl.
Outside the window, Yu Jin watched the silent boy and finally let his lips lift.
"I've done what I can. If you still stay the same, then you're just rotten to the core."
"Lu Mingfei… change what you think shouldn't be happening."
They would leave this world soon.
But this world wouldn't change for their departure.
The story would keep running.
The protagonist would still meet the people he was destined to meet.
And then… it would be time for him to choose.
At the table, Lu Mingfei glanced toward the window.
He felt something.
"There was… someone there."
—
Yu Jin walked through the evening streets.
"Dinner should be ready by now. Perfect timing."
Then a familiar figure entered his sight.
A girl stood ahead, smiling as brightly as sunlight, watching him.
"Yo, heroine," Yu Jin lifted a hand in greeting.
She didn't greet him back.
She tilted her head instead.
"I'm curious," she said softly. "As a next-generation dragon, how did you blend into human society so perfectly?"
Leaves rustled in the wind.
Under the dusky light, it should've been a beautiful scene—
but Yu Jin's eyes narrowed.
And suddenly, everything clicked.
"So that Dead Servant back then… that was you?"
The girl nodded, about to speak—
A fist was already in her face.
Yu Jin drove a punch forward.
