Phoebe's POV
In distance races, runners usually stay focused on their own lanes, making it tough to catch what's happening around them. Lucky for me, Patty wouldn't shut up, which made her act more believable and pulled my focus exactly where she wanted it.
I played along with her little show, deliberately easing my pace. The moment Trish made her move, I stepped aside with fluid precision, my body reacting on pure instinct. I even managed to slip in a quick kick at Patty as she tried to trip me. The move was so smooth that only the sharpest eyes would've caught it.
"Ah!" Patty yelped as she crashed down next to Trish, both of them hitting the ground in a tangle of limbs.
The whole thing happened in a heartbeat. Everyone saw was Trish about to take me down, but with one swift sidestep, I left both Patty and Trish sprawled on the track. The crowd's gasps quickly turned to stunned silence.
