Yet Katie held her tongue around Alan. As the heir apparent of the Kemp family in Clearwater, the future patriarch, he wasn't someone she dared to cross.
Alan paid her no mind whatsoever. To him, she was merely a daughter from the Bailey family's secondary branch—hardly worth his notice.
That made perfect sense. In Harold's view, the second branch had already fallen from grace long ago.
