Phoebe's POV
I barely put any force behind the slap, but it still packed enough punch to draw blood from Katie's mouth.
"You... you actually hit me? Do you have any idea who I am? Charlies, hit her back! Hit her back!" Katie shrieked, charging at me like some deranged animal.
I sidestepped her easily, watching as she whirled around to scream at Charlies. But he didn't even twitch. When she lunged for me again, Charlies casually moved into her path, cutting her off completely.
I could see the contempt in Charlies's eyes, and I knew he wasn't the same person Katie used to boss around. He was well aware that without Harold, her family's influence was gone.
Charlies's expression stayed cold as he watched something behind me. "Katie, you better apologize to Phoebe right now—or you're not going to like what happens next."
A smug grin spread across his face that practically begged to be punched.
