Phoebe's POV
My blunt response left Brian without words. He stared at me with a cocktail of irritation and worry etched across his face, and after what felt like forever, he finally gave in with a nod. "Fine, if you're that sure of yourself, I'll keep my mouth shut."
Brian spun around, dug into his black briefcase, and pulled out a thick stack of papers before shoving them toward me. "I threw these case studies together last minute. Look them over in the next day or two—they'll give you what you need for the public lecture."
I took the materials from him, flashing a smile. "Thanks, Mr. Lukas. I'll go through them thoroughly."
Brian fixed me with another hard stare before shooing me away with his hand. "Go find a seat and get reading."
I grabbed the documents and settled down, throwing myself into the reading with the kind of focus that showed I wasn't going to argue.
