Phoebe's POV
Watching us pass intersection after intersection, I caught sight of the police tape cordoning off the lab. My eyebrows knitted together while an icy chill crept down my spine.
The lab sat just three blocks away from Clearwater University. So damn close, yet two innocent girls had died right here.
The moment we stepped out of the car, Harold gestured for me to come over. "Phoebe, come here," he called out.
I glanced toward lan, and now that I stood beside him, he suddenly appeared much braver than he'd been before.
No matter how ruthless Harold could be, he wouldn't tear into lan with me right there watching.
As long as he made it through today, lan was ready to act like any past grudges had never happened.
"What's going on?" I approached Harold as he'd requested, though I kept craning my neck to get a clearer view of the lab, curiosity written all over my face.
