lan scratched his head awkwardly. "No need for thanks. Just don't beat me up."
If he hadn't decided to drag Katie along on his own, our mission tonight would've run much smoother. With Katie in tow, the chances of Harold's people catching us had only gotten worse.
I smiled. "I won't beat you up tonight."
But after tonight? I wasn't making any promises.
I'd encountered plenty of people who'd sold out their own family, but lan was in a league of his own. He didn't just sabotage his teammates—it was like he was desperate to tear off my disguise himself, worried I was hiding too effectively.
With Harold's sharp intuition, he'd piece together in minutes how we'd managed to slip two people through a military base all the way to the dock.
