Harold's POV
The second I heard him, I could tell exactly what Lucas was up to on his end. I hesitated before asking, "Lucas... has anyone from the base come looking for you?"
Catching the gravity in my voice, Lucas murmured away from the phone, "Babe, can you head downstairs and get my cigarettes?" Then he returned to our call, "Harold, something go wrong at the base?"
Lucas understood just how bulletproof the base's security was. He couldn't picture anyone breaking through those defenses, but my question alone made his voice turn ice-cold.
I let out a heavy breath. "Phoebe's gone and taken Katie and Jeremy with her. I think she somehow got past the base, and I'm driving there now. Lucas, warn the team at the base—if they see anyone lurking around, tell them to hold their fire."
"Jesus Christ!" Lucas exploded, completely floored by what I'd just told him. "You're not kidding? Phoebe's really that skilled?"
