Phoebe's POV
I spotted the two people who'd backed up Jeremy's alibi story hanging around Clearwater University. Something felt off about their presence here—they weren't here for legitimate work, especially with how Carol kept eyeing Katie.
My expression hardened as I brushed off Katie's irritated glares.
I pulled out my phone and shot lan a quick text, asking him to track down Jeremy at the school's medical center.
Yesterday I'd vouched for Jeremy's whereabouts, and now these two showed up together. The timing reeked of setup, and I knew others would smell the same rat.
lan's response pinged back almost instantly, and even through the screen, I could feel his annoyance. [Phoebe, Jeremy's not at the infirmary.] I kept tabs on him all morning, but the second I step away for lunch, he vanishes?
"If that's not deliberate, I don't know what is," I muttered under my breath.
lan fired back: [You little troublemaker, you've really grabbed my attention now.]
