Chapter 16 - 16

"Will you really agree to any of my requests?" Campbell Watson asked, his hand sliding onto Kaitlyn's round, firm backside, giving it a squeeze. He wore a mischievous smile.

Upstairs, Promise Nelson's face grew even darker upon hearing this.

"Men are all the same," Promise muttered angrily. She turned and stormed into the private room, slamming the door behind her, startling Magnus Nelson inside.

"Promise, what's wrong? Who made you angry? Where's Campbell? Didn't I ask you to bring him along?" Magnus asked, concerned as he saw his daughter's upset face.

"He's dead," Promise snapped back, clearly irritated.

Uh...

Magnus was taken aback. That sounded a bit odd.

Downstairs, Kaitlyn couldn't help but smirk as she saw how upset Promise was.

"Hmph, trying to compete with me for a man, Promise? You'll never win against me," Kaitlyn thought, her eyes gleaming with a victorious look.

There seemed to be a deep grudge between her and Promise Nelson.

"Ahem, well, I have something to do. Bye now."

At this moment, Campbell Watson took a few steps back, distancing himself from Kaitlyn, waved his hand, and headed towards the second floor.

Kaitlyn was stunned for a moment and took a while to react.

That guy wasn't captivated by her beauty at all. On the contrary, he had taken advantage of her quite a bit.

"Interesting..."

Kaitlyn's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she watched Campbell walk towards the second floor.

She rarely encountered men who weren't swayed by her looks.

In reality, only Campbell knew how conflicted and tormented he felt inside.

Kaitlyn was a natural enchantress, and spending a night with such a stunning beauty was the dream of countless men.

He was no exception.

However, Promise Nelson was his employer, and as a bodyguard, he had to stay by his employer's side at all times.

That was the professional duty of a bodyguard!

But when Campbell pushed the door open, he was greeted by Promise's cold and mocking expression: "Wow, done already?"

Campbell gave an awkward smile, turned his head to Magnus Nelson, and greeted him with a laugh: "Uncle Magnus, sorry about that. Just had to use the bathroom, haha..."

"Bathroom break?" Magnus Nelson looked suspicious.

Having navigated the business world for years, he could easily tell that something was going on between his daughter and Campbell Watson. But since they weren't saying anything, he decided to play along and act like he didn't know.

Besides, he was quite pleased with Campbell. He wouldn't mind if something developed between the two of them...

If Promise Nelson knew what her father was thinking, she would probably be mortified.

"Come on, sit down, Campbell. See what you'd like to eat, order whatever you want," Magnus said warmly, pulling Campbell to sit next to his daughter and handing him the menu.

"Uncle Magnus, I'm fine with anything. Let's see what Promise wants," Campbell replied with a slight smile, passing the menu to Promise.

"Dad, just have them bring out some of their best dishes. I need to get back to the office soon," Promise said, ignoring Campbell's gesture.

"Campbell, what about you?" Magnus asked for Campbell's opinion.

Campbell didn't mind, as he wasn't sure what to order anyway. So, Magnus went ahead and ordered a few signature dishes from Rain Listening Pavilion.

Ordering at Rain Listening Pavilion was simple. Each private room had a tablet where you could select your preferred dishes and confirm your order.

Moreover, the service at Rain Listening Pavilion was impressively fast. Within half an hour, all the dishes were served.

"Campbell, please, make yourself at home. The food here is quite good, so eat up," Magnus Nelson said warmly.

Campbell Watson was indeed hungry and didn't hold back. He filled a big bowl with rice and started eating. He had to admit, the food was delicious and the ingredients were fresh.

Promise Nelson, however, kept a cold expression and didn't look at Campbell even once, acting as if he didn't exist.

Magnus, trying to bridge the gap between his daughter and Campbell, attempted to create some conversation topics.

Unfortunately, Promise ignored him completely, leaving Magnus feeling helpless.

"So, Campbell, I heard you're now the head of the security department. How's that going? Are you getting used to it?" Magnus asked, trying to make small talk.

"It's alright," Campbell replied briefly.

"I've heard about the issues within the company. We'll need your help a lot in the future. Promise isn't good at dealing with those internal conflicts, so please support her."

"No problem, Uncle Magnus."

"Dad, I'm full. I have a lot of work to handle at the office. I'm leaving now," Promise suddenly stood up, grabbed her bag, and walked out without looking back.

"Hey... Promise..." Magnus tried to call her back, but Promise didn't want to stay a moment longer. With a loud bang, she slammed the door and left.

Sigh, this stubborn girl. Doesn't she understand her father's good intentions? Magnus sighed inwardly.

Talents like Campbell Watson are highly sought after by countless powerful factions and admired by many elite women around the world...

Magnus Nelson had hoped that this dinner would help Campbell and Promise Nelson get to know each other better. However, it seemed that his plan had backfired.

Magnus couldn't help but sigh deeply.

"Uncle Magnus, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now..."

Campbell suddenly remembered that he didn't know the way back. If Promise left, he would have no idea how to get home. So, he quickly informed Magnus and hurried out.

But as soon as he stepped out of the Rain Listening Pavilion, he saw the tail end of Promise's sports car disappearing from view.

"Damn... looks like I'll have to take a cab back."

Campbell sighed in frustration. However, a thoughtful expression crossed his face as if he had just remembered something.

After a moment, he seemed to make up his mind and left the Rain Listening Pavilion alone...

"Guys, that pretty boy just came out."

From a private room on the second floor, a buzz-cut man pointed at Campbell and shouted excitedly before rushing out. He had been waiting impatiently.

If it weren't for certain concerns, he would have acted long ago.

The other three young men quickly got up and followed him.

"Lucas? What are they doing here? What are they planning..."

On the third floor of the Rain Listening Pavilion, Kaitlyn stood by the window, admiring the view. She noticed four men with buzz cuts storming out of the pavilion, chasing after Campbell Watson, and her expression changed slightly.

"This is bad!"

Realizing something, Kaitlyn hurriedly made her way outside...

Lucas and his three companions were the four warlords under the command of the Dragon Prince of the Divine Dragon Club.

The Divine Dragon Club was one of the four underground rulers of East Sea City, controlling the western district's underground forces.

The Dragon Prince was the young master of the Divine Dragon Club, the undisputed prince of East Sea City's underworld.

These four warlords were once underground black-market fighters, with extensive combat experience and incredible strength. The leader, Lucas, was a late-stage Yellow Rank martial artist, while the other three were mid-stage Yellow Rank.

Martial artists were ranked from lowest to highest as Yellow (Huang) , Black (Xuan), Earth (Di) , and Heaven (Tian).

Although Yellow Rank sounded weak, it was far from it. Yellow Rank martial artists were also known as postnatal martial artists or experts in external strength.

Becoming a ranked martial artist required a natural talent for martial arts, guidance from a master, and years of relentless practice. It was as difficult as climbing a mountain.

In the Celestial Nation, there were tens of millions of martial arts practitioners, but only one in a thousand could develop external strength and reach the Yellow Rank. Most spent decades training, only to be slightly stronger than ordinary people.

Lucas and his three brothers were only in their late twenties but had already reached mid to late Yellow Rank, showcasing their exceptional martial arts talent. Given time, they had a high chance of becoming martial arts masters.

Because of this, they were always arrogant and looked down on others, offending many big shots and nearly getting assassinated. They were saved by the Dragon Prince, who had a life-saving grace for them.

Since then, the four brothers swore to follow the Dragon Prince to the death, becoming his sharpest blades. Over the years, they had achieved numerous significant accomplishments for him.

They all revered the Dragon Prince as their leader.

Kaitlyn was the woman favored by the Dragon Prince, and in their eyes, she was no different from the mistress of the house.

Once, someone caused trouble at the Rain Listening Pavilion and even harassed Kaitlyn. That person ended up with their Achilles tendons cut, leaving them crippled.

Since then, no one dared to covet Kaitlyn anymore.

The entire East Sea City knew that Kaitlyn, the owner of the Rain Listening Pavilion, was the woman of the Dragon Prince from the Divine Dragon Club!

Campbell Watson's public displays of affection with Kaitlyn were nothing short of a direct challenge to the Dragon Prince's authority. It was akin to slapping Lucas and his men in the face in front of everyone.

Lucas and his crew were now beyond furious; they were absolutely enraged.
