Chapter 7 - Unique Skill

Earth — E60

It had been two years since Lord Reid had appeared in this dimension with the help of his spirit beast and Williams.

Arriving in the dimension that day, he had quickly attended to Williams's ash poisoning.

Just like his dimension, Williams noticed this wasn't that different in terms of buildings.

This was Earth Dimension 60 among the 99 Earthian dimensions.

Though the technology in this dimension was higher, they had already discovered a double sharp spear-like weapon capable of destroying buildings with immersive laser power.

And though this dimension had flying ships, they weren't widely used because it was still under development, and only a few had the first edition of what they called Exorcist Ships.

Despite these technologies, Williams found it strange he hadn't come across a smartphone or a telephone.

But this world had weapons his two worlds didn't—but the same language. And it also had different races: humans, elves, dwarves, and, of course, demons to be exorcised.

'Maybe every world has its uniqueness. Encrypting aura into weapons, I would like to meet the genius behind this.'

Tak–boom

Accompanying his thoughts, Williams felt himself get smashed into his soft pillow.

Though the force of the attack wasn't meant to kill him, the two-year-old child felt his forehead hurt a bit.

"What are you suddenly up to now, Will?"

Standing in front of his huge bed was Lord Reid, his great-grandfather—the only exorcist Williams had become fond of.

Williams still kept his palm on his forehead. Meant to wound him or not, the fingers of an exalted exorcist were expected to bring pain.

"You love looking at pictures in books, don't you?" said Lord Reid. "Did you crawl to my room to get this book?"

There was a big book opened in front of Williams. He had seen Williams in the pose of what he was now looking at in the book—

A monk's pose with crossed legs, eyes closed, and fingertips all connected.

This was called the Aura Pose, a pose for beginners who were learning how to manifest aura.

"What? No way would a two-year-old be practicing this. So you're only doing what you see, right, Will?"

Williams blinked twice at Lord Reid. 'It has gotten to the point where you're asking me questions and expecting a reply?' thought Williams.

"Ah, no way. You're just two… you still have eight more years before your aura comes out. That will most definitely determine if you'll be a great exorcist like me."

Lord Reid was certain of it. "Did I hurt you much, my boy?" asked Lord Reid. He noticed how Williams's palm had been holding the forehead he hit.

'You nearly killed me, old man. I'm an infant, for God's sake. I knew living with an exalted... aissh,' thought Williams.

His great-grandfather removed Williams's palm and saw the spot had swollen a bit.

"Oh, that's a big bump you have there, boy. Let me go and get the nurse," said Lord Reid with a jovial expression.

But as he was walking out of the room, he noticed Williams started crawling back to the book.

It stunned him. 'He can't read what's in the book now, right?' Lord Reid paused, asking himself.

He watched Williams make the pose again, closing his eyes while doing that finger lock. He was confused.

But remembering Williams was two, he laughed.

"No way. I better get the nurse."

Regardless of the brief distraction he had, Williams still maintained his pose. He inhaled.

[Mastery]

[Death: 1/10]

[Unique ability gained from death: Shrouding Aura of Death AKA Death Shroud]

[Death Shroud: An aura of death is realized, capable of pressing down and killing weak foes in submission. It emits an aura of death authority, and when focused on a particular person, it draws the soul into the abyss.]

Williams had to keep his focus at maximum. Using the death skill and slowly mastering it had given him a sub-unique skill tied to death.

But unlike "Die," where he could just say it, this wasn't the same. Williams had to master the Death Shroud aura the normal way.

Aura, as Lord Reid had said, would determine Williams's path—whether he'd be a strong or weak exorcist.

Williams wasn't the type to rely on an easy skill such as "Die." In his past life, a million divine exorcists were terrified of him.

He had chosen the path of no master, the path of obtaining exalted power, so he was eager to restart.

'Imagine I started late in my past life and was able to reach that stage. Starting this early at age two, I will try to reach that pinnacle. Only then will I truly live comfortably... absence of fear.'

Williams inhaled harder, then held his breath.

The technique or aura comes from what gathers within the body, according to the book.

Holding his breath releases what's inside with a force that could push it out.

He did it again. One must steady the exhale, even though he had held his breath for more than ten minutes.

Then the windows of his room were blown open by his little aura burst.

He did it again, and this time, an invisible, faint black mist escaped his mouth and nostrils.

Slowly, Williams had no idea he was floating—completely concentrated.

It was essential he mastered the aura right now. A normal child would wait till age ten to begin.

'But I'm not normal. I wasn't born normal.'

He inhaled harder, a gust of wind forming and now flipping the book's pages endlessly.

Held the air for five minutes. After it was contaminated with the death aura within him, he breathed it out steadily.

Each time, the aura was stronger than before—but not as strong as Williams needed it.

'An aura that tells I am the one. An aura that defines my presence.'

At this time, Lord Reid was now coming back with the nurse.

"He's just a child. I just accidentally tapped his forehead with my fingers and it swelled. If his mother hears about this, she'd start feeling worried," said Lord Reid.

Nothing he said was funny, but the elf lady pretended it was and laughed. She was dressed like a white nun and also had that exorcist emblem behind her back.

Walking into the room, they stopped. Lord Reid's eyes were popping out. "What?"

What was he seeing? Not only had Williams's swollen head healed, the boy was floating with a gush of aura.

An unpleasant aura.

"Miss, Miss Elfy, what… what do you see in front of you, please?" asked Lord Reid. He wasn't calm as usual.

The elf lady was also feeling uncomfortable, like something was pressing her down. But she managed to reply, stammering.

"A floating child, Lord Reid."

Confirming he wasn't delusional—as Williams exhaled again—

Kewuk, the elf nurse made a sound and fell to her knees, letting her aid box fall off her as she clutched her chest.

"He... he could destroy us," he muttered.

"But... but he's just a boy," the nurse managed to say a few words, hiding the pressure pressing her down.

"His aura is nothing like I've felt before. No doubt this boy is my offspring, but...."

He paused, watching Williams closely.

As he saw Williams inhale again, he knew with every round, it was stronger. So the next one could possibly faint or kill the nurse.

"Miss Elfy, leave the room at once!" yelled Lord Reid. But she couldn't stand. She was scared and already crying, as if begging not to die.

Williams was about to release the final shroud, causing Lord Reid to catch a few goosebumps.

"P-please... please don't kill... please p-please, I don't want to die."

Lord Reid shifted to the lady that had said that—it was undoubtedly the nurse.

Williams smiled at the success rate. 'I will stop here for now,' he thought.

But opening his eyes, he found out three things.

He was floating.

His great-grandfather had the look of fear mixed with surprise on his face...

And the supposed nurse had fainted, or maybe even died, but she wasn't moving—not even a flinch.

[Ding...

[Mastery]

[Death Shroud has been mastered: to use one must say 'Shroud']

...and the system.

'This child must not become a dark exorcist.' thought Lord Reid.

He picked up the nurse, carrying her on his shoulder, and before walking out of the room, he looked at Williams, then he said...

"I'm coming for you, boy."

"What?".
