"You're crazy, Nathan. Putting a mystical beast gene into a pregnant woman? Do you hear yourself?"
Dr. Feil's voice echoed sharply through the lab as his dark‑green eyes narrowed. His shoulder‑length hair shook with every angry step he took.
Dr. Nathan, calm as ever, adjusted his glasses. "Feil, I understand your concerns. But no organization — not even the government — has tried this field of experimentation. If we succeed, we could create the perfect weapon against the Aberrants."
He leaned back in his seat. "Do you know how much the organization will gain? How respected we'll be, not just in this city but across the entire Human Alliance?"
Feil slammed a palm against the table. "We already have the dragon‑bloodline breakthrough! The highest fusion rate ever recorded. We just need time for it to grow." His voice trembled with frustration. "Why risk a mother and her unborn child just to beat the competition?"
There was silence. Then Nathan's expression shifted — anger, pain, and obsession mixing together.
"You didn't lose your family, Feil."
He stood up slowly, voice hardening.
"You didn't watch your wife beg you for help while you were powerless. I did."
His hands clenched. "I don't care what it takes. Those creatures must go extinct."
Feil's eyes softened for a moment — pity, fear, maybe guilt — then he turned and left without another word.
The lab stayed quiet for a minute before the door opened again. A woman stepped in, her long hazel hair flowing gently behind her. Her dark eyes were warm, her smile soft, and her large stomach made her presence even gentler.
"Good morning, Dr. Nathan," Mary greeted as she sat down.
Nathan forced a small smile. "Good morning, Mary. How are you feeling?"
"My baby has been moving a lot," she said, resting a hand on her belly. "Ever since that injection… he reminds me of his father when he was alive." She laughed softly.
"Oh?" Nathan asked. "Did the increased movement start before or after the injection?"
She paused, thinking. "He's been more agile after the injection. I even feel like—ahhhh!"
Mary collapsed from the chair, gripping her stomach as she screamed.
"It's coming! It's coming!"
Her dark eyes began glowing white.
