Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Emergency Quest

********

"Well, it's good that I have planned for the time being... I don't want to die, afterall."

He sighed, still looking at his luxurious room, a place where a noble, the Douchebag, lived his rich but obnoxious life.

"That bastard should just be grateful."

Even now, he still can't believe how grandiose his room was; His white bed was so fluffy that he almost slept as if he was with the clouds, pillows that are so comfortable that he immediately lost consciousness if his head lay on it, his elegant mirrors with gold pallette color encrusted on it, his wooden ebony table and chair, his white colored wool curtains, and the shining walls of the room. There was also this mini chandelier that lights up the room, and the sheer size of this room.

"Shit, it's thrice... the size of my apartment before, what a fucking life."

He sighed again, this time, with contempt to that bastard, although he knew that this bastard was rich. It was even an understatement.

"It was really different... when I'm just playing with my phone..."

Seeing this room up close, was quite a shock. It was astounding to live in this place, rather than just seeing it on the phone, in 2D mode.

"He even had a chandelier, what the hell..."

An extreme indicator that he really was, living in a luxurious life, the place of the bastard.

"It's really luxurious... like those places live by royalties in the stories that I have read in novels."

He never had in his life, even a soft pillow, he never had one. He slept always in cardboard to save money, and he's always had... a lot of debt, and his paycheck always was used to pay those.

In short, he was extremely poor, sometimes, he even ate using food stamps that he begged to get in some convenience stores.

"What a cruel... inequality."

Even his cellphone that he used to play 'Nevestria' was secondhand, and always lagging, and he bought it in a store with his months of paycheck that he saved in his piggie bank.

"Well, it's all in the past now... Now, I have to stick to my plans to survive the first event, if I want to live this way of life... This simple luxurious life of Kudos von Zekenia."

First, he gazed at the calendar of the room, in the upper-side of the mirror. Because he knows the starting point of the events in Arkansas Imperial Academy.

"Week 2 of August, huh?"

Tracing the date. His eyes darted down the grid.

"Only two weeks left..."

He realized with a spike of adrenaline in his chest, he knew the events that will be in the Academy afterall.

"One wrong move, And I'm dead..."

He deeply warned himself, one wrong move and all the things that he enjoys right now, will crumble to pieces.

That's why he planned meticulously these past few days. In the first place, he was going to nip the conflict before it even began.

He will avoid the MC and his Heroine.

At the same time, save those children from their horrible fate... the future Damnations.

"Week 4 of August will be the start of Nevestria's First Semester. The first event..."

Suddenly, he heard a pleasant sound coming from his mind, a subtle reminder of the System.

Tingggg! Tingggg! Tinggggg!

"System..."

Tingggg! Tingggg! Tinggggg!

A ringing sounded again in his mind through the system. He was getting familiar with the system.

He saw a notification window in the system that suddenly popped-out after he opened it.

He was pleasantly surprised.

[You have achieved the First Goal, know the Exact Date of your Transgression.]

[Reward: 3 XP] [Your System will now activate!] [Congratulations] [EXP Level now activated!]

He noticed his name, and face, and the EXP bar of his system being filled up in his status window.

[Kudos von Zekenia]

[Level 1: 3/10 XP]

"Is this how the system works?" He wondered. It was exactly like the stereotypical system of Nevestria, or some other rpg games in the gaming community market.

But if this is a system, where's the next instruction? Where's the shop screen? He reached out mentally to try and access the rest of the shop interface.

"Where it is..."

[Shop: SEALED]

[Inventory: SEALED]

"Oh, I see. That's why I can't open it huh, maybe I will be able to open it in the near future..."

That's when a blaring sound rang in his head, it almost gave him migraine.

TINGGG! TINGGGG!! TINGGGG!

"What is this..."

TINGGG! TINGGGG!! TINGGGG!

He immediately knows that something is wrong, ominous to be exact.

TINGGG! TINGGGG!! TINGGGG!

The system changed in color, from its typical blueish color to red color, a sign of extreme danger, and an ominous symbol for him.

"Shit..."

He looked at the changed panel that he was seeing earlier on, and the words written on it.

It's scared the hell... out of him.

"What... the...?"

[Emergency Quest: Save the Protagonist and Heroine from Assassination.]

What the fuck is this? I never saw this first event even in the hours of playing, and restarting Nevestria countless times.

He muttered, "I was just an extra, why the hell, must I help the protagonist in that assassination?"

But he had no other choice nor did he have no escape route to just ignore it. He read the next part of the Emergency Quest.

[Failure: Death of the Protagonist and Heroine, and also, the Death of Kudos von Zekenia.]

"I'm fucked..."

[Time Left: 6 days, 12 hours, 3 minutes, 10 seconds.]

"Shit..."

He just mumbled, it was sudden, and he didn't have time to react, nor prepare himself.

"What's this? It's exactly one week before the semester started, and I have to save them from the assassins? Shit... I don't even have the slightest information about the assassins."

However, he just resolved himself. Even if he didn't want to, did he even have a choice?

"I will also die, if they die, so I have to save them..."

The plan that I crafted meticulously these past few days— crumbled pieces by pieces. As if someone was messing with me.

"What a start, Nevestria. Shitty game..."

For now, I have to change my plans, I have to save them, even if I don't want to.

"There's a way to save them, but..."

Through becoming stronger, albeit temporarily.

I need to be much stronger so I can save them...

"Fuck, I have to do this... with this shitty stats."

And I know a painful method that may lead me to death to save them ...

"I don't even have a choice, and I will use it much earlier than I have planned." His hand trembled, and sweat slowly formed in his forehead.

He deeply sighed, but still, prepared himself mentally nonetheless. Knowing that this method will probably be the most pain he will have in his life, it's not even an exaggeration.

"This is going to hurt..."
