"I'll see if I can find any prey later; it's so hot that all the wild beasts have gone into hiding."
Rowan sat down next to Owen. Sweat soaked the back of his shirt, sticking uncomfortably to his skin. He held a piece of banana leaf, fanning continuously to cool down.
Owen no longer panicked when he couldn't see his mate, because he knew Rowan would not abandon him. He calmly peeled a banana for Rowan, using his nails to cleanly pick off the sticky fibers on the fruit to reveal the ivory-white flesh.
"Eat this for now, I'll go hunt for prey later. I will be able to see more clearly at night."
Owen pushed the purely white peeled banana in front of his mate, then took the small cut piece of banana leaf to fan Rowan. The gentle cool breeze made Rowan narrow his eyes comfortably and relax his body.
