Sleep became a stranger to me that weekend.
Each time I tried to close my eyes, images of Jasmine walking away from me replayed like a broken record. Every attempt to push the memory aside was met with Abner's furious growl echoing in my mind. "If anything happens to her because of you, I will never forgive you."
His words carried weight that settled deep in my bones. I could feel the growing chasm between us, my wolf pulling away from me in disgust. The bond that had always been unshakeable now felt fragile, damaged. The only thing that might repair it was seeing her again, making sure she was safe.
I had never experienced restlessness like this before. Not during the most brutal full moon transformations or the endless political meetings where Dad and the council elders droned on about pack business. This was something entirely different, and I desperately needed confirmation that Jasmine was unharmed.
