Jayden's POV
Days had passed since I witnessed Stephen entering Harry's house, yet the memory refused to release its grip on me. It festered beneath my skin like a splinter I couldn't extract.
The scene replayed endlessly in my mind. Something felt wrong about the entire situation, and the harder I tried to dismiss it, the more agitated Abner became within me.
Was one of Jasmine's trusted friends actually betraying her? And if Stephen was involved in something sinister, should I remain silent simply because my mate wanted nothing to do with me?
Perhaps confronting him directly was the answer. Or better yet, maybe I should visit Jasmine's residence myself. Now that I knew her location and had spoken with her recently, we could finalize our rejection of each other.
Then perhaps everyone could move forward with their lives.
But I was deceiving myself, and I knew it.
