My teeth ground together so hard I wondered if they might crack under the pressure.
Every muscle in my body coiled tight, ready to strike, but I forced myself to remain still.

Out of every possible name Ebony could have whispered when she introduced her mate, his was the absolute last one I wanted to hear. Yet here he stood before me, that insufferable smirk plastered across his face, growing wider when our eyes locked.
Something flickered in his expression that made my blood run cold.
He knew. The bastard had known I was Ebony's brother this entire time, probably laughing at the twisted irony behind closed doors like it was his own private entertainment.
Fine. If he wanted to play games, I could play better.
I stretched out my hand, letting my lips curve into a smile that could cut glass. "Luis. What a pleasant surprise."
