Jasmine's POV
He lingered near the window, shadows dancing across his silhouette. Neither of us dared to move first.
I wrapped my arms tightly around myself, my voice cutting through the silence like ice. "Get to the point and get out."
Jayden pivoted slowly, moonlight illuminating the sharp angle of his jaw. His eyes held a glassy sheen I had never witnessed before. "I need to tell you something."
The words stumbled from his lips, broken and uncertain.
"Jasmine, I'm sorry."
My heart lurched. Jayden never faltered with his words. Never showed weakness.
His eyes were bloodshot, mouth working soundlessly as he struggled for air, for courage. His hands shook uncontrollably at his sides, betraying the composed facade he usually wore.
"Sorry?" I took a deliberate step closer, each syllable dripping with venom. "Sorry for which part exactly? For using my body and then throwing me away like yesterday's garbage? For convincing everyone we meant nothing to each other?"
