Sylvia's venomous words still rang in my ears like a death knell. "Hello Jasmine, I have come to stay too."
The elegant dining room transformed from sanctuary to battlefield in an instant. The warmth that had filled the space moments before evaporated, leaving behind an arctic chill that seemed to seep into my bones.
I remained frozen beside Ebony, fighting to control my ragged breathing. Queen Jaelyn continued to beam with maternal pride, oblivious to the poison that had just entered her home. She gestured gracefully toward the empty chairs, her voice melodic as always.
