The instant Jasmine bolted from the grand hall, every maternal instinct I possessed screamed that something had gone terribly wrong.
Despite never carrying her in my womb, my heart had claimed Jasmine as fiercely as it had Jayden. Her anguish struck me like a physical blow, leaving me breathless. I wanted to chase after her, to demand answers, but the thunderous applause from the crowd held me captive in my royal seat.
Sylvia commanded the stage, soaking up every cheer and whistle.
She had just announced her pregnancy with my son's child, and the entire kingdom was celebrating this supposed blessing.
Yet all I could see was the devastation that had consumed Jasmine's face before she fled.
She had looked utterly destroyed.
