Jasmine's POV
Tears streamed down my face until my throat felt raw and burning.
I pressed my forehead against the cool wooden desk in the empty classroom, shoulders shaking as I tried to contain the sobs that threatened to tear me apart. Every muscle in my body ached from the force of my grief, leaving me feeling hollow and broken.
When I finally managed to lift my head, the afternoon sunlight had shifted across the room. My breathing came in shallow gasps, and moisture still clung to my cheeks. Moving felt like dragging myself through quicksand, each motion requiring tremendous effort. A crushing weight pressed against my ribs.
Jayden had betrayed me. Just when I believed we had found our rhythm together, that the Moon Goddess had blessed me with the perfect partner, he had crawled into bed with Sylvia.
The deception had been going on for who knows how long.
