The crystal stemware shattered against the polished marble with a sound that cut through the elegant chatter like a blade. Every conversation stopped. Every head turned toward me.
Heat flooded my face as I stood there dripping with champagne, the sticky liquid clinging to my evening dress. But the physical discomfort was nothing compared to the way his gaze had burned into me moments before I'd lost control completely.

"Oh God, I'm so sorry," I stammered to the server, my voice barely steady. The man's professional smile never wavered as he began collecting the larger pieces of glass.
Before I could humiliate myself further, Lina materialized beside me. Her fingers wrapped around my wrist with gentle firmness.
"Come with me," she murmured, steering me away from the staring crowd and through a side corridor toward the ladies' room.
