Chapter 50 - The exam first test adaptation, part 3

This is the first part of the chapter.

"You and I need to talk a little," Ren said.

"Oh? What do we need to talk about when I'm being tied down to the ground and we're both wet?" the guy said, making Ren pause in shock.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" Ren yelled after the shock.

"What? You're the guy who wanted to talk after tying me down. What else would have crossed my mind?" the guy said, and even through the rain Ren could hear his cocky tone.

Ren just pinched his nose and sighed. He quickly got his composure back and told him what he wanted.

"I came to talk to you because I wanted to team up with you."

That finally made the guy stop talking and listen.

"I assume you have strong enough eyesight to see far away even in this rain. Could you see the light pillar?"

The guy took a moment to respond, but he eventually did.

"Yeah, I could see the light pillar. But what's in it for me?"

"Well, it's very simple. I'm strong, so I can handle a lot of the opponents that we will meet along the way."

The guy thought about it he did see a couple of silhouettes fighting and they all disappeared one by one even though he didn't see who pacifically did all the work he knows that he's the one that got out of there so he made his decision and then spoke.

"Okay, I'll join you."

Ren smiled at the fact that this guy teamed up with him, and now he had a way of getting out of this rain maze. Yes, he had a method that could have helped him get out of here, but there was a low chance that it could have worked. But that wasn't the main reason he decided to team up. He didn't know how likely the chances of getting an opportunity to team up with another person were, so he decided to team up with the first capable person he had the opportunity to talk to.

Ren made the shades dissolve, making the guy get up. They got closer, and Ren put his hand forward for a handshake.

"My name is Ren Dover. What's yours?"

The guy looked at his hand for a second and shook it.

"My name is Rex Field. Let's go. I can see the lights of the light pillar. I don't want to waste time here."

And with that, they walked toward the direction where Rex told him the light pillar was. Along the way, Rex also told him about people that were too far away to see their silhouettes, so they avoided them, or if they couldn't, Ren would take them down with his shades… until eventually they reached a point where the rain just stopped.

After stepping at a certain point, they suddenly stopped. When they looked back, the rain was still going on. It was like they had entered a completely different area. They saw the sky, and it was clear, and Ren could see the light pillar perfectly now.

"What the hell?" Rex exclaimed next to him.

When Ren looked at him to figure out what was going on, he saw Rex's face for the first time clearly. He had blood-red hair and black eyes. Blood Red hair isn't natural, so it must be a power responsible for that, or alien blood, considering those are the only ones that give you natural hair like that… or it's just dyed. Other than that, he is just average looking.

"Is there a problem?" Ren asked. He had his guard up just in case.

Rex just looked away and tskt.

"If I knew you were a pretty boy, I wouldn't have bothered teaming up with you and would have tried harder to take you down. Maybe I should do it right now."

Ren just gave him a blank look. Is this guy seriously picking a fight with me just because of my looks?

Ren just sighed.

"Come on, man, this isn't the time. By the looks of this, this is a different area," Ren said while looking at the trees in front of him. "It looks like there are layers to this test, and the next one is a forest."

"Yeah, I know. Judging by the curve the rain takes, this area is circular, meaning the light pillar is in the middle of the area, which means the closer we get, the more enemies we'll fight," Rex said while looking to the side. He wasn't glancing at anything specific; he was just looking far away so he could see the curve.

Ren thought to himself.

"Hey, is your incredible eyesight your power or something?" Ren asked.

Rex just looked at him and snickered.

"Is that all you think about? I guess you power users think the same when you see something incredible. No, I don't have any powers."

Ren was surprised.

"Wait, seriously? How can this be?"

Ren himself has incredible 20/20 vision, but even he couldn't see a thing, so that means Rex's eyesight should be superhuman. That doesn't make any sense.

"Your eyesight is way too good for it to be natural."

"I know," Rex nodded his head. "But for some reason, my eyesight and hearing were incredible ever since I was a kid, and as far as I know, I have no alien blood in me. anyways. We've been standing here talking for a while. We can't waste time doing this."

Rex tried to walk forward.

"Wait," Ren asked. "What do you mean we don't have time?"

Rex looked back in confusion.

"What do you mean? We are on a timer after all. Haven't you seen your phone?"

Ren paused for a moment, then went to check his phone it was wet, but the phone was completely waterproof so it was fine. He turned it on. There weren't any new messages, but in the corner, hidden by a couple of drops that he swiped away, was written:

Time Limit — ——

"Wait, it doesn't show me the time limit. It just says time limit."

"Yeah, I know. It's the same for me. It's a good thing that's the case. I thought for a second that mine was broken," Rex said.

"Anyway, again, we can't waste time. Let's move."

Rex continued moving, and Ren quickly followed him. They both entered the woods. They were moving through it normally. Ren expected a lot from the woods area, but so far everything seemed to be normal.

But that was obviously not the case.

The challenge of this area isn't as clear as in the rain area.

"WATCH OUT!" Rex yelled from behind.
