JAY-JAY POV
Oh god.
Why didn't I just finish my dinner?
At least the rice.
At least something.
But nooo.
My ego decided to be the boss, and I stormed out of the house like I was in some dramatic movie scene.
Now guess what?
I'm starving.
My stomach is literally growling like a wild animal.
I sat on the benches in the park clutching my belly. "Congratulations, Jay‑Jay. You won the argument but lost the food."
"Jay, what are you doing here?" a voice said—one I knew way too well.
I turned around and saw Keifer standing there, hands in his pockets like he owned the night.
"I should be asking you the same question," I shot back, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, I came for a walk," he said casually.
"At 8 o'clock? Weird," I muttered, crossing my arms.
Keifer smirked. "What, people aren't allowed to walk at night now? Did you become the neighborhood police?"
I rolled my eyes. "No, but it's suspicious. You're either hiding something… or you're just bored."
"Maybe both," he said, grinning.
"What about you? If I was right, you either got into an argument with Aries or Angelo," Keifer said, tilting his head like he already knew the answer.
"Kuya," I admitted.
"Why?" he asked.
"Nothing big," I muttered, waving it off.
He didn't press, which was weird for him. Instead, he leaned closer. "Are you hungry?"
I nodded, my stomach growling like it wanted to answer for me.
"Well, I can get you food," he said, smirking, "but in return I'll ask for something."
I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. "What do you want in return?"
He grinned. "Maybe some kisses."
I gasped so loud a cat probably jumped three streets away. "KEIFER!"
"What food do you want or not?" Keifer asked, giving me that look like I was the most indecisive person on earth.
"Fine," I muttered, giving in because my stomach was basically screaming louder than me.
"Then let's go to my house," he said smoothly, like it was no big deal.
I blinked. "Excuse me? Did you just casually invite me to your house at 8 o'clock at night?"
He smirked. "Yeah. What, scared?"
I crossed my arms. "Why would I be scared?"
He leaned closer, his voice low, steady. "You know why." Then, before I could react, he brushed a kiss against my earlobe.
"Keifer…" I whispered, my cheeks burning.
He pulled back, the faintest smirk on his lips. "Fine. I was just messing with you. Let's go."
I nodded quickly, trying to hide my blush, and grabbed my phone.
My fingers flew across the screen as I texted Aries
Me: I'll be staying at Ci‑n's house today.
Horoscope: Jay, Kuya is really mad, so yeah… stay at Ci‑n's house for the night.
I sighed, clutching my phone.
Kuya's voice was still echoing in my head, and I knew if I went back, it would be another round of lectures.
No thanks.
So I called Ci‑n.
"Hey, Ci‑n," I said quickly, lowering my voice like I was plotting a crime. "If Kuya or Aries calls you, just tell them I'm at your house for the night."
Ci‑n chuckled on the other end. "Wow, Jay. You're turning me into your alibi now?"
"Yes," I said firmly. "Congratulations, you're officially my cover story."
He laughed again. "Fine, but if they show up here, you owe me snacks."
I groaned. "Deal. Just don't expose me."
"Where are you gonna stay over tonight?" Keifer asked, his voice calm, unreadable.
I turned to him. "I don't know… probably at Ci‑n's."
"Stay at my house tonight," he said, smooth, like it wasn't even a question.
"Fine," I said, pretending to hate it but secretly loving every second.
We started walking toward his house, the night air cool against my skin.
Somehow, his hand found mine.
And before I could even process it, our fingers intertwined like it was the most natural thing in the world.
I glanced at him.
Keifer didn't even look fazed—his expression was calm, unreadable, like holding my hand was just… normal.
But me?
My brain was screaming.
How can someone look so good without even trying?
Like, seriously.
I just want to kiss him right now.
Wah. Jay, control. Control.
I squeezed his hand tighter, pretending it was no big deal, but inside my chest was a full‑blown fireworks show.
Keifer finally glanced at me, his voice low, almost teasing. "You're quiet. That's rare."
I rolled my eyes, trying to cover up my blush. "Don't get used to it."
He smirked faintly, the kind of smirk that made my stomach flip. "I wasn't planning to. I like it better when you talk."
"So how will we tell Section E?" I asked.
"About?" Keifer said, his voice calm.
"This. Us. That we're official," I said, my cheeks heating.
"We'll worry about that tomorrow," he replied smoothly.
"Oh shit, I forgot Aries told us to meet him tomorrow in the backyard of the school," I blurted.
Keifer leaned in and kissed me.
I froze, pulling back instantly.
"Why the hell did you kiss me?" I asked, my face burning.
"Profanity," he said simply.
I groaned.
Fuck.
How did I forget about that stupid rule?
And worse… To be honest, I kinda like that rule.
Jay, no. You're not supposed to like that rule.
"Why would he want us to meet him?" He asked.
"I don't know,"I said.
"But try not to get yourself killed," I muttered.
He raised a brow. "Why?"
"You called Aries brother‑in‑law," I said. "And I swear to God he almost combusted on the street."
Keifer chuckled softly. "Worth it."
I buried my face in my hands. "You're insane."
"And yet," he said, brushing his fingers against mine, "you still like me."
"We're here," Keifer said.
I looked around and, sure enough, we were already standing in front of his house.
"Let's go inside," he added, his tone calm but firm.
I nodded, following Keifer in.
The hallway was quiet, almost too quiet, until I spotted Keiran sitting on the sofa, his eyes glued to his iPad.
"Hey, Keiran," I said, trying to sound casual.
He barely looked up. "Tss."
Tss.
I blinked.
Wow.
He's exactly like his brother.
Same cold aura, same unreadable face.
No cardboard cutout needed.
But then Keifer brushed past me, his hand lightly on my back as if guiding me forward.
Gentleman.
Subtle.
For me only.
"Kuya, what is she doing here?" Keiran asked, his tone sharp.
"Keiran, be nice to her. She's your future sister‑in‑law," Keifer said calmly, not even flinching.
Keiran rolled his eyes and stomped upstairs.
"I'll make something," Keifer said, disappearing into the kitchen.
After a few minutes, I got bored of sitting alone on the sofa.
The silence was too heavy, so I decided to explore.
I climbed the stairs, my footsteps echoing in the upgraded hallway.
Damn.
He really upgraded the house since he got his inheritance.
Rich vibes everywhere.
But then I froze.
Keigan was standing there, staring at me.
His eyes locked on mine, unreadable, cold.
My stomach twisted.
To be honest, I'm scared to talk to him again… after he poisoned me.
