After dinner, there was no time for tenderness between them. Milo Sinclair drove down the mountain, taking Shea Thorne back.
"I'm on duty tonight. I'll come see you again during my days off in a couple of days." Milo Sinclair told Shea Thorne his schedule, advising her not to wander around outside.
"Let's keep contact to a minimum for now. Don't let my presence anger your dad. I'll handle it; you just enjoy yourself and don't worry." The conflict stood between her and her father; they needed to avoid provoking him, lest he accuse Milo of manipulating his daughter, which would backfire.
"Okay, I understand, my lord."
Shea Thorne nodded obediently, yet felt aggrieved. They could have celebrated the birthday together as three, but now she had to divide her time between Milo Sinclair and her father.
The car stopped at the entrance of the neighborhood. Milo Sinclair took a box of cake from the trunk for Shea Thorne, along with a jewelry box, urging her to hurry home.
