Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Curse Propagation?

John was a little disappointed with this result; compared to a contagious curse, he still preferred immortality.

Even an incomplete immortality would be better than a contagious curse.

The latter has too much uncertainty.

He tentatively accepted this result.

John could largely confirm that even complete immortality was not true immortality.

Immortality also meant restrictions.

Just like killers such as Jason and Mike, if they couldn't be killed, then they should be sealed directly or confined to one place.

Or, as the Terrifier described, a destructive blow with some absolute power might also be capable of killing them.

The matter concluded here.

John planned to attend Professor Goodman's class at the University of California after Halloween, and by the way, see if he could visit the home of the famous paranormal investigators, the Warren couple.

The Warren couple were the paranormal investigators from the church in The Conjuring.

Their main task was to investigate paranormal phenomena across the country and report them to the church.

These two were very famous on the horror forum, and many people had sought their help.

The website John logged into last time, which contained paranormal events shared by netizens from various countries, was actually the horror forum.

John remembered that the Warren couple's home sealed many ghosts and evil spirits; if he could become an unofficial exorcist for the church and then ask for the Warren couple's help, perhaps the phantom card could be quickly filled.

But that's uncertain; in any case, let's get through Halloween first.

John stretched, destroyed the crime scene traces, and then left the building.

It was already morning when he left.

The sky had just begun to lighten.

There were also many more pedestrians on the streets.

It still felt safer during the day.

John called his butler, asking him to drive over and pick him up.

Putting everything else aside, his family was indeed wealthy, but this wealth was relative, especially after his parents passed away.

Previously, John couldn't stop certain parasites, so he simply sold all the properties and became a rich idler; if it were now, he would send the Terrifier to visit them one by one and teach them how to behave.

However, even after dealing with them, he would still sell most of the properties.

John had realized that earning too much money was still powerless in the face of certain things; enough money was sufficient.

At least in Florida, he could be considered a wealthy man.

...

Noon.

Collingwood Manor.

Strictly speaking, this ancient castle was not inherited by John's family but was purchased from a fallen wealthy family.

Spanning several thousand acres and having been redecorated, its name was quite famous in Florida, with hundreds of maids and various staff members in the manor.

As the car drove into the manor.

The newly laid asphalt driveway was smooth, the lawn was meticulously trimmed, and new bluestone slabs were laid along the tree roots, specifically chosen from old weathered materials, allowing one to feel the aged indentations when stepping on them.

John could see servants coming and going and a green belt like a garden, and further ahead.

From a distance, he could see the European-style castle from the last century standing tall.

Frankly, John was very satisfied; originally there were more people, but he had dismissed them, keeping only the necessary staff.

Now, it seemed he needed to reduce them further.

If John could accommodate classic monsters like the strange scarecrow, perhaps only a butler would be needed for security and manor maintenance.

After getting out of the car.

The old butler spoke first: "Sir, Jennifer and her friend are visiting and playing in the castle; several rooms remain sealed."

The old butler had a white beard and sparse hair, a kind face, and was an ordinary old white man, somewhat resembling Hershel, the farmer and part-time veterinarian from The Walking Dead.

"Thank you, Old White."

John preferred this simple and easy-to-understand name over other titles.

After Old White left.

John did not immediately enter the castle; this was his first time returning to Collingwood Manor after obtaining the phantom card, so of course, he had to check it out.

Even if it was just a tiny bit of familiarity.

But before he could take out the phantom card to check, the top-ranked Queen of Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts, and Spades suddenly moved.

It should be noted that 'Q' represents the Queen.

Finally, the Queen of Diamonds materialized in his hand.

"Traces of Queen-qualified Witch Angelique detected."

"Collingwood Manor can be rewound."

This was a change John had never seen on the phantom card before; the Queens were indeed different from the other cards.

Upon detecting an existence qualified to be a Queen, would it actively reveal itself?

However, Witch Angelique certainly had that qualification.

Upon seeing the name, John immediately thought of American Horror Story: "Dark Shadows."

He had only seen a portrait of the witch before, but that was a long time ago, so it was normal not to remember; at that time, his parents had just bought this manor from its original owner.

It wasn't until this time that the phantom card revealed her true name.

The power of Witch Angelique was undeniable, as she had lived for an unknown amount of time.

As for the story of Collingwood Manor, it dated back to the century before last.

John couldn't quite recall the plot, but he still had some impression of this beautiful witch.

He heard she was heartbroken by some scumbag.

This time, a new option even appeared.

Rewind the castle?

Just from the word 'rewind,' it felt extraordinary.

John guessed it meant letting him go back to a certain point in time in the castle? Of course, all of this would only be known after trying.

He didn't dare to try now; Evil Spirit Wendigo might truly be no match for Angelique.

He still needed to work harder.

Putting away the Queen of Diamonds, John formally entered the ancient castle, which was still as he remembered, in the European Gothic style with pointed arched windows, ribbed vaults, spires, and stained glass.

However, after redecoration, it had become somewhat different.

After all, John was now the owner of the manor, so his renovation naturally prioritized his enjoyment.

If conditions allowed, he also wanted to build a swimming pool and rockery in the backyard; illegal occupation of land was not an issue, just expand it, and if anything came up, he'd tell the manor's ghosts and evil spirits he had accommodated.

Jennifer and her little friends were not seen on the first floor.

But upon hearing the sound of the door opening.

Two beautiful faces peered out from the second floor.

Jennifer jumped up and waved.

"Hi, honey, you're back!"

John looked up and said, "Come down if you have something to say."

"Tap tap tap."

Jennifer and her friend ran down the smooth stairs barefoot, and when they were almost at the ground, they leaped into John's arms.

John held her rounded buttocks with one hand and asked, "How was your fun?"

"It was great, the manor is huge! Oh, this is Heather, my good friend," Jennifer said, looking back at Heather.

Heather was one of the few friends Jennifer had at school, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful girls in the school.

"Hello Heather."

Black hair, black eyes, tall and slender, a little less than Jennifer, but still very good.

However, in John's opinion, she still couldn't compare to Jennifer, but she was indeed very pretty.

Without much introduction from Jennifer, he knew and was familiar with Heather.

How could he not know the female lead of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Could it be that female leads from horror films like to hang out with female leads from other horror films?

Jennifer seemed not to want John to pay too much attention to Heather and turned to ask.

"Honey, do you have any plans for Halloween?"
