Looking at the clothes handed to her, and at Jiang Che's clear, earnest gaze, Ya completely broke down.
With a crying face, not wanting to make her intentions too obvious, she spoke softly, "But won't you get cold then?"
She realized she really couldn't use a normal person's logic to judge a psycho.
Normal people gave their outer jacket to others, but this madman just took off his inner layer and handed out his coat.
And he's so damn sincere, you can't even find fault with him!
"I won't!" Jiang Che replied seriously, "I'm healthy, I can handle it!"
"Besides, you just taught me—when you're out in the world, if someone's in trouble, help them out if you can! Otherwise my wife and kid would look down on me if they found out."
"You're the one who needs this right now. Anyway, I'm used to the cold."
"If it wasn't for looking indecent and worrying my wife would get the wrong idea with us all alone here, I'd even give you my coat too." Jiang Che went on.
As he spoke, he pushed the clothes forward, gesturing for Ya to hurry up and put them on.
Ya smiled stiffly as she took the clothes. The blue-and-white-striped hospital gown was indeed a bit thick, just as Jiang Che said.
Because the hospital was trying to save money, they didn't give the patients too-thin clothing; that way, they wouldn't get heatstroke in summer or freeze in winter.
Style-wise, they were afraid patients in an episode would rip off buttons, so all the clothes were pullover sweatshirts instead.
The clothes were still warm with Jiang Che's body heat. Ya turned her head and saw his honest gaze, forcing a smile before pulling the shirt over her head.
Jiang Che's shirt was huge on her, loose enough that the hem even covered her thighs.
Jiang Che nodded in satisfaction, feeling more than ever that taking off his inner shirt had been the right call; if he'd given her his coat, it would've been too big, too heavy, and not even as warm.
"If you're still cold, then we can just go home for a bit. Luckily, we haven't gone far—won't take long to get home."
"Back there, we might find some clothes more suited for you."
Ya had been thinking of saying more, but as soon as Jiang Che said that, she shut her mouth.
If she went back, the Blood Nurse would tear her apart alive.
"Not cold, really not cold, let's go! I'll take you to find your wife and daughter." Ya's smile was painfully forced.
The spectators watching the stream were all dumbfounded watching this scene.
[Holy shit, is this psycho actually dumb or just pretending?]
[I study microexpressions. Jiang Che's eyes were totally sincere. He honestly thinks his inner shirt is warmer than his coat.]
[I give up on this psycho's logic. Who strips their inner layer?]
[It's like I say I'm cold and just want your coat, but you take off your thermal underwear instead…]
[That little nurse's mental state is probably crumbling.]
[Figure out a way to kill Jiang Che now. Before they meet anyone else in the Dungeon, kill him and strip his stuff. Two Dungeon props! One can hide human scent—even with these, if you can't survive the Dungeon, you might as well die.]
[Who in these Dungeons isn't cunning? If you don't act now and others show up, it'll be easy to figure out Jiang Che's clothes are unique.]
...
Ya didn't get the coat, and since she couldn't be sure she could kill him in one shot, she was just like the viewers—scheming how to get rid of Jiang Che first.
Even if she didn't have the viewers' god's-eye perspective,
In a sense, they all shared the same goal.
Do whatever it takes to survive!
The two walked through the black night for over two hours. In the cold white moonlight, Ya could see the ground spattered with fresh, steaming blood, and scattered severed limbs, still bleeding.
The hunt never stopped at night, yet the two of them remained safe for now.
Distant human screams and the cawing of crows above their heads mixed together—it was impossible to tell which belonged to which.
Ya walked alongside Jiang Che, choosing not to be in front or behind him.
In a place this dangerous, walking single file was the worst option.
You never knew when the person behind you might vanish, or when you'd be watching someone's back and silently get dragged into the dark.
Unlike Jiang Che, Ya couldn't control herself from anxiously looking all around.
Maybe it was just her imagination, but she kept feeling there was a shadow lurking nearby, stalking them like a haunting ghost who wouldn't relent.
But whenever she looked closely, there was nothing there.
Ya knew—they'd probably run into an evil spirit again.
"Did you see someone over there?" Ya moved a few steps closer to Jiang Che, not daring to stray far from him.
"Where?" Jiang Che looked where she pointed, confused.
It was only then, looking around, that he noticed they'd unwittingly walked into a strange graveyard. The "houses" here resembled villas, and in the yards out front, tombstones grew in clusters like plants.
Pale gray mist swirled over the tombstones, and a soft rustling came from within the fog.
Where Ya pointed, you could vaguely see a figure hiding in the mist. When they looked over, it quickly ducked out of sight.
"See? Isn't there someone there?!" Ya crowded in next to Jiang Che, speaking excitedly but keeping her voice down.
"Seems like there is." Jiang Che only glanced over and then looked away—he had business to attend to and no interest in making friends. "But they can walk their way, we'll walk ours. I don't own the road."
Ya was speechless. She really wanted to crack open Jiang Che's head and see what was inside!
She'd thought the two of them were still pretty safe, but apparently not.
Some evil spirit had already marked them, only hesitating to make a move so far.
She wanted to survive but had no idea what to do next.
Have Jiang Che go fight the spirit? But if he left and she ran into danger, what then? And she couldn't con the shirt out of him…
Ya was almost crying from anxiety. She was so frustrated—how could a psycho like Jiang Che waltz around the Dungeon, acting reckless, while everyone else was forced to tiptoe for their lives?
Clearly, fate put Jiang Che in her path as an opportunity!
The things on Jiang Che should be hers!
All she had to do was kill Jiang Che. Once he was dead, his items would be hers.
Her brain spun rapidly. "He's not a good person. I only told you about your wife, not your daughter before…"
Ya let out a heavy sigh. "It's because your daughter was kidnapped by that person you just saw in the mist. I didn't want to upset you, so I didn't mention it…"
