Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Hades used a monocular telescope to observe the situation below, where an ambush was about to begin. His heart was as still as water, without a ripple, not because he was naturally so calm, but thanks to his Undead body.

Without extraneous thoughts, he could clearly and methodically arrange things, minimizing the influence of emotions.

Although Hades disliked it, he had to admit the excellence of the Undead body. Through the monocular's lens, two Hanzos had quietly infiltrated to a spot not far from the Elf Twins.

Another two Hanzos were already targeting the fifteen Eight-Edged Assassin Bugs. These monsters have excellent stealth abilities, but once discovered, they are not difficult to deal with.

Hanzos are monsters over level eighty, and they are also the special profession of Ninja. Their stealth ability is difficult for even level one hundred players to detect, and their combat ability is not weak. Using one to deal with these Eight-Edged Assassin Bugs is already easy, and an additional one is just in case.

Hades summoned a total of five Hanzos; in fact, that was all he had. He only possessed five magical item books for summoning Hanzos. Four of them were ambushing the Elf Twins and the Eight-Edged Assassin Bugs, and the last one was hidden in his shadow for unforeseen needs.

Because Albedo had always followed Momonga, and Momonga was a Magic Caster, he naturally needed a Warrior to act as a vanguard. Hades had already planned how to eliminate Albedo, the vanguard, but for an assassination, it was better to have an extra layer of insurance.

Hanzos belong to the Thief class and can use some scrolls to cast magic as a means of conserving mana. Scrolls can only be used by Magic Casters and must contain magic that exists within that Magic Caster's skill tree.

For example, a Magic Caster of the mana system cannot use a Priest's 'Blessing' magic scroll. Priests belong to the faith system, so the mana system naturally cannot use it.

Therefore, professions like Warriors are even less likely to use scrolls.

However, there are exceptions. Thieves can use their skills to trick magical items and use some items without special restrictions.

Hanzos themselves can use Ninjutsu. Since Ninjutsu consumes MP, it can be seen as a Ninja's magic, but Ninjutsu still has limitations and is not as convenient as magic.

Hades distributed various scrolls needed for the ambush to the four Hanzos. The scrolls were of a high tier. Although he didn't know if he could find high-level materials in this world to replenish the scrolls, being stingy now would reduce the success rate of the ambush.

There's a saying, 'You can't catch a wolf without sacrificing a child.' He couldn't really wait until the members of Ainz Ooal Gown noticed him and prepared to act against him before he made preparations; that would be too late.

The organizer of the 1500-person subjugation force had listed their shocking crimes: that guild constantly PKed people, seized their equipment, and even World Items were taken.

Because of constant PK, the Ainz Ooal Gown guild had offended many people in YGGDRASIL, and over many years, it finally led to the 1500-person encirclement.

Hades was not unaware of the social environment in the original world; in such a high-pressure and harsh environment, there would certainly be many people dissatisfied with society who wanted to retaliate against it.

Perhaps those people didn't dare to do so in reality, so they went on a killing spree in the virtual world. And judging by Ainz Ooal Gown's consistent behavior in the game, it's hard not to think that the guild was full of such people who wanted to retaliate against society.

Hades dared not gamble his life on the moral standards of the other party. After coming to reality, suddenly gaining such immense power might make that group even more insane, completely disregarding whether it was reality or not.

Perhaps this was just Hades's overthinking, but striking first is always better than regretting later. He didn't hate society because he came from a privileged background, but he also wouldn't be a naive pushover.

Four Hanzos were dispatched to the ground, stealthily ambushing near the Elf Twins and those bugs. According to the messages from the Hanzos and his own observations, the enemies had not detected them.

This put Hades at ease. Hanzos were indeed Ninjas; even level one hundred NPCs had not detected their presence. Now, he just needed to wait for the right moment.

He would act as soon as he stepped out of that house. There were villagers inside the house, and acting rashly would cause innocent casualties. Moreover, the space there was confined, and even if teleportation magic was used, Momonga would immediately notice something was wrong, thus losing the initiative. It was better to ambush in an open area if possible.

Huh! Wait....

Hades suddenly noticed that at some point, the area outside the village had been surrounded by unknown individuals. Because his attention had been focused on Momonga, he had neglected to observe the surroundings.

Those people were wearing unified clothing and black cloaks. Were they natives? They wouldn't be here to rob the village, would they? Hey! Wait... Is that....

"Arc Angel Flame!" Hades exclaimed, continuing to observe.

This angel's level wasn't high, but it was a monster from YGGDRASIL. Why would there be a monster from YGGDRASIL in this world, and those people were summoning it using Tier Magic?

Hades suddenly wanted to dismiss the possibility that this was the real world, thinking it was still the virtual world of YGGDRASIL, but reason told him that this couldn't be the virtual world.

So there was only one possibility: the natives of this world could use Tier Magic.

This discovery made Hades both happy and worried. He was happy because if Tier Magic existed in this world, then he might be able to find some helpers to help eradicate the The Great Tomb of Nazarick.

But he was worried because since magic existed in this world, he wanted to know how strong his own power truly was. Although the people below were using third-tier angel summoning magic, these might just be some small fry.

To be safe, Hades used his telescope again to observe the surroundings, confirming that besides the villagers, Nazarick members, and this group of Magic Casters who had surrounded the village, there were no other people.

In reality, there were no longer clear numerical tables like in YGGDRASIL, so Hades could only judge their levels by their magic.

They could use third-tier magic, which means a maximum of level 21. No... let's estimate higher. Double it for them; perhaps they can use sixth-tier magic, a maximum of level 42.

Their numbers were not small, but one Hanzo should be able to handle them. An eighty-plus level monster dealing with a group of forty-level characters would still be easy.

He just didn't know if these natives would affect his assassination plan. To prevent any changes to the assassination plan, he decided to send the fifth Hanzo, hidden in his shadow, to deal with those natives.

Hmm? Wait.....

Hades then saw the burly man who had been talking to Momonga earlier leading people, charging on horseback towards the group of Magic Casters.

Eh... Is it a conflict between natives? That's good. Wait, what is Momonga doing?

Hades's heart tightened, and he quickly switched views. When he saw that Momonga was still inside that house, he relaxed. From now on, he would keep a close eye on Momonga.

As soon as he left that house, he would act simultaneously with the four Hanzos ambushing below.
