Chapter 6 - Early Progress

45 minutes later.

I have finished my cereal, and the experience for the AI and storage device has filled up.

I decided to leave both AI running during this time just to upgrade both. I may leave both running from now on but prioritize the hacking AI, while the stocks AI runs on the excess data. Because I don't want to leave one AI or drive lacking in experience.

Even if it is barely downloading anything it is still being used, which means it will gain experience.

I will set the hacking AI to priority and make it so that the stock AI will only be able to download 1 kilobyte a second max.

The experience cap for all of the other things has reached 10,000, so it's going to take a little over a week to reach that much experience.

It is starting to take quite a long time to acquire the necessary amount of experience to upgrade my things.

The next upgrade will require 100,000 experience. That will take 1,666.6 hours or 69.4 days and that's if I can generate active experience 24/7. Which is impossible.

If I think a third of that time is spent sleeping then it will take about 92.53 days.

Ouch, that hurts to think about.

But, currently there is nothing I can do to make it go any faster.

You know I never really found out how much data the AI will need to function.

Huh.

After a quick Foolgle search it seems I will need more than I thought. ICM created an AI and it uses 14 petabytes, or 14,000 terabytes.

Hmm. That will take a while to download…

Ugh, why won't things just go as easily as they do in webnovels? I just keep finding myself at dead ends. It's so frustrating.

The highest external storage device I could find was the FanDisk professional 208 terabyte hard drive. But it really is not just one, it is a bay of 8, combined into one, for the low price of $8,293.96.

Welp I can't afford that.

The other options are also out of my price range. But they are single drives, which may or may not be a better upgrade.

I just feel like I'm running out of options.

The upgrade for the external storage drives, upgraded the amount of space by 10. So they now hold 10 terabytes. Which is good, but nowhere near enough, nor will I be able to upgrade them to be enough. It would just take way too long.

The only option is to buy a better storage device to have a farther starting line.

But it all comes back to money. Which I need the AI for. However I can't advance the AI without money.

A true conundrum to have.

I have like $1,200 in my checking account and $1,000 or so in my savings account.

It's a decent amount, but it's not a lot.

The StarConnect cost $349 and $120 a month, for average speeds of around 100 megabytes.

However there is a business plan where you can buy a more advanced version for $700 and it costs $385 a month for a total of 2 terabytes of data.

I'm trying to think of the best solution. Ideally I would get the advanced device but the cheapest monthly plan. But, I need to get enough data to hack in, to prioritize my data and make myself invisible.

Because just upgrading the satellite won't increase the plan.

So I will probably have to get the best residential plan for $120.

Wait I dont have to have the computer use it for it to gain experience. Anything would do.

Ok so the plan is to buy the better satellite with the cheapest plan, just to upgrade it a few times. While still keeping the computer and AI using the current wired internet, to download as much as possible, as quickly as possible.

I'll keep it that way until I can hack into the StarConnect company to give myself admin access to adjust my internet to be the fastest without having to pay, or find out what I'm doing.

Wow, that seems kind of psychotic. And a jumbled mess of a plan.

But, it will be worth it, once I make a ton of money.

I could go out to buy one today. Who sells one?

WorstBuy has it, but it has been severely marked up. It's almost double the price.

What about Jungle? Of course Jungle has it. It's even on sale for $500. Not only that, it has same day shipping.

$10? No problem. Get that sucker here now!

Purchase!

Welp, that was an impulse buy. I could have found it cheaper somewhere else. Oh well.

About an hour later the sky was lightening, with the early sunrise.

However all it really highlighted was the continued gloomy weather from the tropical storm in the area.

Which means the solar panel and battery will have to be put off another day.

It also means even if the StarConnect gets here I won't set it up. I know it says it is rain resistant but I don't want to risk it.

That is a lot of money to throw around. Money that I don't really have.

As the day goes on, nothing of note really happens.

The weather stays perpetually rainy, allowing one to soak up all of the cozy vibes one could want. I certainly love the rain. But, it is mildly annoying, putting off my progress.

The StarConnect arrives in the mid afternoon, but I leave it in the box. No point in taking it out.

By the end of the day the AI and the external storage drives have leveled up again.

The storage drives can now store 100 terabytes, noice.

The AI after each upgrade has made them more comprehensive. Meaning they require less data to function, but more data still gives better results. They are also more advanced in their functions.

Meaning they have a user interface now and it has gotten way better.
