Soren and Nicholas fought sometimes, sure—but the way they cared about each other was obvious to anyone who looked closely enough.
So I grabbed my phone from the table and dialed his number.
The phone rang once.
Twice.
For a brief second, I wondered if he was busy.
Then he picked up.
"Hello? Holland?" Soren answered cheerfully.
I smiled immediately.
That tone alone told me everything I needed to know.
Relief settled in my chest.
"I take it," I said, leaning back slightly again, "you guys worked it out."
"Yeah," he said.
I could hear the joy in his voice, the kind that made his words lighter and faster than usual.
"Nicholas is just dumb as hell," he continued. "He keeps forgetting that communication plays a key role in why we fell in love with each other. Dumbass."
I laughed immediately.
It came out louder than I expected.
"Aren't all alphas like that?" I asked.
"They are," Soren said instantly, without hesitation "Dumb as hell"
That made me laugh even more.
