Then I paused.
That reminded me of something strange.
I had never actually bought this phone.
It had simply… appeared.
Someone had delivered it to my house one day without warning. At first, I thought it had been a mistake. Packages got mixed up all the time, right? Maybe someone had typed the wrong address. So I tried returning it but when I contacted the company, they refused. They insisted the phone belonged to me.
I even asked if they could give me the buyer's name so I could return it personally.
But they told me the purchase had been made anonymously.
Which made everything even more confusing.
"Why didn't you go back to the sellers?" Kastiel asked. "They could have changed it."
"Well," I said slowly, "they told me the buyer bought it under a no-return policy."
"Bullshit," Kastiel said immediately.
I blinked.
"What?"
"It's possible to return it," he said firmly.
"And even if there was a policy, they could still contact the buyer."
