The next day, Kairo would once more turn into Bon Clay. Luffy looked beat—don't question it—he had the biggest smile on his face.
Luffy's growth was monstrous. Like, how the fuck was he growing so much? At this rate, he was already strong enough to defeat Crocodile. And while his Armament Haki was at a basic level, the fact that he had that and Observation Haki unlocked already was truly monstrous.
Anyway, Ace was still with them on their voyage. Chopper healed Luffy, and they made their way to where they needed to be. Meanwhile, Kairo returned back to his spy duty.
Crocodile didn't suspect shit, his ass was too blind to see anything.
Kairo made sure to catch quite a few shots of the man being corrupt. This job was quite devious.
He had another job. Apparently, he was supposed to act like the king to start a war or some shit like that. Mister 4 should be taking care of kidnapping the actual king.
Though apparently, when they tried to do that shit, they were unable to. The king was with his guards at all times. If they didn't know any better, it felt like the king was warned in advance about their attack.
It really felt like that.
But how could he be alerted? The plan had just been made, which meant...
And thus, this was why they were currently in a meeting.
"Why haven't you been able to capture the king of Alabasta?" Crocodile looked annoyed. Oh damn, he seemed pissed—wonder what got him in such a foul mood.
"It's not easy! Those damn stupid guards are everywhere, and it's like they know when we're coming, stupid, stupid!" The mole woman spoke very fast, while her companion didn't even seem to start speaking yet.
Crocodile looked a bit more annoyed.
"It's been two days. Without the king getting captured, we cannot proceed with the plan. Mister 2 cannot act like him to rile the public up."
Kairo felt like Miss All Sunday was looking at him. He wondered why—he was just an innocent guy.
"Oh my dear~, are the lights too bright for you? Not even capable of capturing a king? Your skills must be getting rusty, Miss Merry Christmas~."
"Shut your tramp before I beat you to death, you idiot!" Wow, she seemed pissed. How fun.
He laughed, placing his hand in front of his face, looking like he was mocking her—and she was pissed.
"Silence, you two," Crocodile said, clearly annoyed.
Mister 1 finally opened his mouth.
"The Gillions are saying that the Strawhats and the princess are in Alabasta right now. They reported seeing a duck running to the capital."
Crocodile paused for a bit.
Those damn Strawhats. It seemed like Mister 3 did indeed lie. Those Strawhats were alive and kicking from the look of it.
And that duck was Karoo. It seemed like Vivi had managed to send a message to her father. That would explain why the man was so on guard lately—it seemed like the king had suspicions of them.
"The Strawhats have attacked a lot of our Gillions and Millions. They're causing a lot of trouble, and it seems like they're coming straight for us," Miss Doublefinger said.
Kairo was happy. Seemed like the team was doing their job just fine—creating such a big smokescreen for him.
Crocodile looked even more annoyed. To think such an upstart crew was causing so much mayhem. He had made this meeting because he thought there was a spy, but from the new info he had received, it seemed like it was because of the Strawhats.
Kairo was glad his plan was working. He was happy.
"Hey, Mister 2—Gillions haven't been attacked," Miss Merry Christmas said. Damn, she must truly hate him.
"Well, have you ever considered that your troops were simply weak? They could not dare to attack my dancing partners."
Crocodile took in all the info.
He suddenly sent a sand attack at Kairo, which he barely dodged.
It seemed like the man suspected him of being the spy, which also was part of the plan. Why was that? Well, in 3, 2, 1—
"Don't you think you're being too brash?" Miss All Sunday said.
Crocodile turned his head toward her, as if to say, the hell you mean?
"The Strawhat plan is simple. They are purposefully sowing discord in our troops. From our reports, there aren't many of them, so it would be smart of them to thin out our numbers and have us eliminate our best to give them a better chance."
"Get to the point."
"I'm saying Mister 2 is being framed. From our reports, they are aware of Mister 2's power of switching faces. The fact they haven't attacked his group shows that. As he could be anyone, they run the risk of him getting the face of a Strawhat he didn't have before, thus removing their surprise element."
As she finished her explanation, the man who just seconds ago seemed ready to murder his ass stopped. Okay, so maybe he was quick to anger. I mean, who wouldn't be? His long years of planning were about to get ruined—Mister 2 just happened to be the guy on the other end of it.
