Chapter 5 - fighting

Taking a breath, he did a swing. His hand was closed at first, but he opened it halfway through the swing.

Ariel effortlessly dodged it however, motioning for him to continue. Jairo didn't need much encouragement. He continued swinging. He had seen many boxers on social media sites.

It was the easiest fighting style to replicate, besides if he even tried anything close to a kick with these unfamiliar legs and an entirely different limb on his lower back in the form of his furry tail, he was just going to trip over himself.

he planned to lose, but he feared how loud she would be if that would ever happened. Would she ever shut up about it?

None of this was relevant however. His hands were now completely focused on trying to scratch her, claws out. they had been for the past twenty seconds.

Ariel moved with grace, dodging to the left as another of his attacks missed. she gave him an almost lazy level of calmness on her face as she looked into his eyes.

"Is it my turn?"

she grabbed his arm before sweeping his leg, dropping him to the floor. "You have to have more in you than this."

"Hey, you didn't even give me a chance to say if it was you're turn or not." Jairo said shaking his head.

He rolled over before getting back up. Ariel was the one who balled her hands into fists as she moved in. Jairo managed to get his guard up to protect his face, yet Ariel did a full stop, delivering a devastating blow to his guts.

Jairos eyes widened as is guard went lower, he began stumbling back as Ariel casually walked towards him, so he wasn't making any distance.

"Maybe you should take it a bit easier on me?" He said, holding his hand out.

"I am." Ariel said, raising an eyebrow. "Duck."

and he did just that, her leg went over his head, straight into the balcony. Yet her inhuman grace allowed her to simply kick off of it, and continue to be in his face.

It was beginning to annoy him just how she was moving like this.

An uppercut woke him from his stupor. Thankfully he was able to block it. using this opportunity, he swiped at her with all his might. Unfortunately she slipped it her hand moving fast, only to deliver a light shove that again made him trip over his tail, falling to the floor.

Shortly after he collapsed, he could see Ariel bathed in the lighting of the slowly setting afternoon sun.

"So…how did I do?"

Ariel put a hand over her head. "You're an idiot."

"I know that already. I'll work on it."

Ariel put a finger to her mouth. "Yet you're an idiot I can mold into something. And you're funny."

Jairo smiled. "An idiot with charm." He said as he extended his hand.

"Yeah. Now, we have another lesson. It may be basic knowledge but still." She said as she grabbed his hand and lifted Jairo upwards.

"And what might that be?" Jairo said, curiously as he stood to her right, rolling his shoulders.

"Do you have any food in you're house?"

She looked at him with suspicion.

"Not that I recall. Do you have any here?"

He said with visible excitement. All this tiredness was making him hungry.

Ariel simply chuckled as she put her hands behind her back, beckoning him to follow her.

She brought him a bit further out, just walking upstream, closer to the main village entrance, and then further up is where you see many deer drinking.

Around five deer were drinking at one time.

Each one seemed calm, but it was close to night, all of them were on guard. hiding in a bush 15 feet away, Jairo looked at Ariel who was staring with a smile.

He made the assumption that Ariel would give him some food out of the kindness of her heart, but this wasn't the worst thing.

"Disappointed?" She said, looking at him.

To which Jairo quickly shook his head.

"Where else would you have taken me?"

A smirk formed on her face as she continued, looking forward.

"You're tired, but I can go on a chase. You're job is be be around thirty feet opposite where we are right now."

Jairo smiled. "Catch em while they're least expecting it? I can do that."

looking at the deer, he would have felt something if he was human surely, but the hunger that was creeping up on him was not the same as when he was human. He didn't know what he would do if he got hungry at this very moment.

It was best not to find out. It only wanted to live, and so did he.

Jairo had to spend a few minutes going around the long way, making sure he was too far away to be seen or heard, before coming up around ten feet behind where the deer who were getting a drink.

He was getting hungrier by the moment. Holding his stomach, he began to drool a bit. He looked for Ariel who was in her original spot with an impatient expression.

Seeing the hunger written all over his face, hers turned serious. 'That's it. Something base and felt by all life forms. Hunger ought to bring you to your most determined. Show me what you can really do when pushed to the limit?'

She began to move as well, much to Jairos gratitude. It was time to eat.
