Chapter 4 - Ariel’s house

Ariel grabbed him by the forearm once more as she pulled him forward, what he assumed was toward an outer part of the village.

He was behind her, just trying not to bump into anyone. "Hey, you can let go you know?"

"Can I? Promise me you won't lose me?"

Ariel said with a provocative smile and a mocking tone that made Jairo pull his arm out of her grasp. The moment he did, she began dashing through her furry villagers with surprising speed.

'Damn it. I won't lose that easily.'

Taking a breath, he began running through, just barely brushing past a giant wolf carrying meat and the a frail woman balancing something on her head.

For the next few minutes, Jairo stayed within twenty feet of Ariel as she somehow managed to run atop some of the homes of her fellow werewolves.

Just how in the hell was she doing this. Wolves don't sweat, but he was about to pass out if this continues much further.

He saw Ariel jumping on top of a small vending area, Jumping right on top of it with the weight of a feather and the agility of a spider, before then jumping onto a tree branch and swinging into a more forested area.

Jairo genuinely thought about what would happen if he tried any of that and came to the obvious conclusion. He didn't wish to die after just arriving in this new world.

He sighed as he looked towards the ground and decided to walk around the village gates.

After asking some of the guards surrounding it if they had seen her, they pointed in the direction of her home.

It wasn't like he could do anything bad once he got there. Guards were protecting it and Ariel was no slouch herself.

Ariel was resting as she lay near a tree, the afternoon sun shining down and hitting her face.

"That idiot should be back by now…"

If he doesn't show in the next five minutes, she would go bring him herself. Why did he even pull away from her in the first place?

Just then some footsteps alerted her to someone twenty feet away. It was Jairo, his ears flopping to either side of his head as he panted and jogged over to her like it was killing him.

"I hope I wasn't the idiot you were talking about."

Ariel simply looked towards the blinding sun, putting a hand in front of her face.

"Oh you certainly were, no use hoping, but you've got you're own charm don't worry."

Jairo ignored the blatant disrespect, as he had other things to do. "How do you do that?"

Ariel stood up, leaning on the tree. "You mean running and jumping? Exercise. Now come on, my house is just ahead. Need me to carry you?"

She extended her hand as he got closer, but Jairo simply shook his head and walked past her.

soon they got to we fathers house. A bunch of orange lights emanated from its windows. It was a giant tree, with almost orange bark.

What an oddity.

more importantly, two giant wolves were guarding it. One looked down at them and noticed Jairo.

So, in this world normal wolves and werewolves lived in peace? And it seemed normal wolves were bigger. Maybe that was just here however.

However that didn't matter as he looked to Ariel to fix the problem. As long as those wolves looked at him with suspicious, almost glowing yellow eyes, he was not getting close at all.

Ariel got close and held her hands out. "Don't worry guys. I'm about to school this idiot. He's about to go to war. And of course, you'll get extra rations for keeping quiet."

After the wolves looked at each other and then back at her, they parted and let them in.

Yet as Jairo got into the doorway, a voice seemed to invade his mind. 'Don't touch anything you lowly drooler.'

'Mess this up and I'll make sure to kill you.'

as he closed the door, he got shivers. Were they…

Talking to him?

Ariel turned around and shook her head. A handful those two I know.

Around the house, He noticed an assorted of weapons, and animal skins. Most wolves didn't use weapons as their natural bodies were weapons, but the war with kobolds had forced them to improvise.

"Alright, its time to go upstairs." Ariel grabbed Jairo, once again pulling him from his mind back into the real world.

Upstairs, Ariel brought him to a rather large balcony, and backed up a few feet. Here he got a breath of fresh air, and he got to oversee the nice river close to the village.

"You ready?"

Jairo was starting to get tired of himself as well.

He was soon to doubt himself into an early grave.

If he wanted anything, if he wanted to live, he had to throw everything into this. Now was not the time to have doubt.

Putting his hands up into a boxing stance, He inched closer.

"What the hell are you doing?" Ariel said, looking at him with disgust. That style might work if werewolves didn't have claws, but he was just offering up his forearms to get slashed.

Jairo froze for just a second, before moving in anyway. If he failed, he failed. His goal was to land as much hits a possible.
