Once a schedule was sorted out, time passed by with Levy and Felix wandering the Mana One in turns. They mostly kept to themselves as most inside were busy preparing for Jack Morris arrival or expanding Mana One. It was fairly interesting watching how the expansions were done.
Sitting up on the edge of the station above the ocean, Felix held a fishing rod as he relaxed. He just finished his turn of watching the station with Levy taking over. While Levy wasn't a very combat orientated mage, she is a member of Fairy Tail. So she should be able to handle it if a magical beast did appear or at least long enough for him to arrive.
That is if an A or S rank sea beast doesn't arrive.
Unless luck is bad, there won't be one as even low level magical beasts were rare around this station. The ocean is a large place and the reason they were hired is more a case of being prepared and not needing them then needing a mage and not having one.
"Catch anything?"
From behind, Minway appeared and asked as his eyes looked out into the distance. There in the sky, an air ship seemed to be flying towards this direction. The ship wasn't very large, but supposedly it is Jack Morris personal air vehicle and has no need to be large. At most maybe six to a dozen crew are needed to operate it.
Before Felix answered his fishing rod began to bend as something took his bait. Standing up, Felix planted his feet as he pulled hard. Which caused a decently large fish to jump out of the water.
"Skipjack Tuna huh." Minway identified. "Looked to be of decent size too."
Felix began a tug of war as he slowly reeled it in. From reeling to allowing the fish to swim, his goal was simple, to wear the fish out. A fish out of energy is easier to reel in than one full of energy and wants to fight after all.
After about fifteen minutes, Felix managed to reel it up due to how much the fish fought and how far out he threw it. Once he pulled it up, he estimated it to be around two feet in length.
"Are these common?" Felix asked.
"Around here, a bit. This type of fish tends to gather around large floating ocean objects. From whales and this station to logs and boats, they tend to gather around it." Minway explained. "While not the luxury type of tuna, it is decently good. Why don't you give it to the kitchen?"
Due to the group of researchers being busy all the time on the station, they had about three cooks. They were by no means grand chefs or hidden talents, but they made decent enough food that no one could complain about it. Just the same could be said about praising it, so maybe there is a bit of talent there.
Felix glanced at the airship that was far closer and in a few minutes would dock at the station. Gathering his gear, he picked up his fish and left. There is no need to meet this wealthy person as his mission is only to guard the station, not shake hands with wealthy guys.
--
While leaving the kitchen, Felix heard a loud and slightly fake praising echoing through the corridors. These praises were followed by Minway speaking, making Felix assume this loud voice to be Jack Morris.
"So who was the boy fishing up top not long ago."
"A mage we hired to protect the station of sea creatures." Minway explained.
"Looks a bit young. Are you sure he is strong?" The man asked.
"I am sure." Minway said a bit awkwardly.
Felix instantly understood that Jack Morris is someone who judges a person by appearance. If a body builder and a master martial artist stood side by side before a fight. Jack nearly every time will pick the body builder to win due to his bulk and strong muscle appearance.
'I guess I should tell Levy to stay out of Jack's sight.'
Felix left and headed to Levy's room.
--
"Can we talk about this?"
Inside Levy's room, Felix once more barged in while she was showering. Even if she was patient and kind, this doesn't mean she didn't have a temper. Even if they have only been here for a couple days, she already heard a few on the station gossiping about them.
"Hm, is there something wrong?" Felix asked.
Levy's shoulder drooped as he stared right at her waiting for an answer. Her cheeks redden a bit under his eyes.
"Why do you always barge in when I am in the shower?" Levy asked.
While this is only part of what she wanted to say, Levy couldn't bring herself to say more. Her sense of embarrassment of being seen by him has worn away. Now only the second hand embarrassment when someone teased or gossip about her remained.
Her young maiden heart seems to crack each time.
"Don't I enter at other times too?" Felix tilted his head.
Felix decided not to delve too deeply into it before getting to why he came. He mainly came to warn her about the wealthy man who just arrived.
"Jack Morris arrived and it's probably best we stay out of his sight."
Levy looked puzzled, but simply nodded.
Once Felix finished saying what he felt was needed, he turned and left. Since the station is preparing a dive into the deep sea, he needed to remind the one that hired them that once the dive started. Then anything that happens in the sea is not covered by the mission.
The mission is only to protect the Mana One Station and not the submarines. Sometimes the mission holder forgets minor details like this.
--
Entering the bay where the station keeps their submarines, Felix approached the three man crew preparing to dive. The crew is one blonde-haired woman and two men with one tall and large while the other smaller and fitter.
"What's up?" Toshi spotted him first and asked.
Toshi is of similar appearance to Minway and Suyin, but he wore thick black framed glasses. He wore a semi-thicker track suit compared to the other two.
"I felt I needed to remind you. Once you dive, if you encounter a sea beast or accident. It is not under the mission conditions for me to drive them away." Felix said.
"Natually." Lori snorted. "We will be far under the sea. How could you drive it away from here?"
Felix just glanced at her before refocusing on Toshi.
"Got it." Toshi smiled.
He held out a fist and Felix, realizing it is for a fist bump, gave his fist in return. Then turned and left since the three understood.
"Strange." Lori muttered.
"Is it? I thought it was a reasonable reminder." Arjen or more often called The Wall answered.
The Wall has long curly hair and clear framed glasses. He was dropping bags into the submarine.
"How so? It seemed only logical." Lori asked.
"True, but when are all humans logical?" The Wall retorted playfully.
Lori didn't say anything more.
