A distant scream cut through the ruins. Not human.
Geo froze. "Runners. A whole pack."
Runners—zombies mutated by speed. Fast as wolves.
Eko cocked his gun. "Oh, hell."
The pack burst from an alley—thirty of them, limbs jerking violently.
"MOVE!" Lolly yelled.
They sprinted through burning cars, ducking behind a billboard. Geo fired precisely, each bullet clean. Eko covered Lolly as she climbed a ladder onto a truck roof.
A runner leaped—Eko tackled it mid-air.
Lolly screamed, "EKO!"
But he threw the creature off and slammed a wrench into its skull.
Geo grabbed Lolly's arm, pulling her higher. "Focus on climbing!"
She hesitated—torn between running and going back to Eko.
Eko noticed. His smile faltered.
She hesitated for me? Or for him?
That moment changed everything.
