Chapter 6 - 6

Chapter 6 The Summoning of the Third Generation

"This is the street, not a training ground. If you want to fight, wait until the official match!"

Kakashi stood between Hyuga Gen and Gaara, giving both of them a cold glance.

Whether it was his imagination or not, Hyuga Gen felt a flicker of surprise and solemnity in Kakashi's eyes when he looked at him.

"Hmph, boring!"

Gaara gave a cold snort, then turned and left directly.

Hyuga Gen, meanwhile, pulled out a silk handkerchief from his robe and began to wipe the blood from his face.

"Hyuga Gen, Hokage-sama wants to see you."

Kakashi waited silently for Hyuga Gen to finish wiping before speaking.

So it finally came? The Anbu's intelligence gathering is quite fast.

Hyuga Gen had anticipated this in his heart, but on his face, he nodded and said solemnly, "Understood, I'll go now."

After speaking, Hyuga Gen silently walked towards the Hokage Building.

Kakashi followed beside him, and soon, the two arrived at the Hokage Office.

"Hokage-sama, you were looking for me?"

Upon entering the office, Hyuga Gen bowed respectfully and honestly to the old man seated at the desk.

Although the Third Hokage was advanced in age, Hyuga Gen could feel the deterrence emanating from him.

"Ah, Gen. I've already sent someone to take Hayate to the hospital. I wanted to ask you what happened last night."

Hiruzen Sarutobi smiled faintly, his tone very kind, making one unconsciously feel as if bathed in a gentle breeze.

Looking at the smiling old man, Hyuga Gen, however, involuntarily raised his guard internally.

If he really treated the Third Hokage in front of him as just an old man, he would suffer greatly.

Hyuga Gen had always believed that this spokesman for the Will of Fire was not so simple.

The Village had been firmly controlled by him for so many years, and his shadow was involved, more or less, in many matters.

Therefore, it would be better for him to 'tell the truth' and not deliberately conceal facts.

Thinking of this, Hyuga Gen began to recount some of the events from last night.

He deliberately simplified the battle process, only saying that he happened to encounter Baki chasing Gekkō Hayate, and out of an inner 'sense of responsibility,' he stepped forward, injured Baki, and scared off Yakushi Kabuto.

As for the relationship between Baki and Yakushi Kabuto, or why they wanted to kill Gekkō Hayate, Hyuga Gen did not mention it.

"Alright, I understand."

Hiruzen Sarutobi listened to Hyuga Gen's report with a grave expression, but he quickly regained his composure and then spoke again, "Thank you for rescuing Hayate. You did very well in this matter."

Hyuga Gen smiled slightly and replied solemnly, "This is what I should do. Serving the Village is a matter of course."

It's just acknowledging the Will of Fire, it's very simple.

If he wanted to, he could even extract some new theories from some classics of his previous life and present them to him.

But there was no need for that; some things didn't need to be overdone.

While thinking, Hyuga Gen tried to make his smile as sincere as possible.

"A matter of course, huh? Well said."

Hiruzen Sarutobi paused slightly, tapped the table twice with his finger, then said casually, "By the way, I heard you had a fight with the Sand Ninja just now. What happened?"

You heard about it, and you still don't know?

Hyuga Gen really wanted to ask that question, but after considering the possible consequences, he gave up on the idea.

"Actually, it was nothing. It's just that fellow named Gaara was too arrogant."

"He hit me with a cat and didn't apologize, so I couldn't help but make a move."

Hyuga Gen spoke calmly, as if the previous fight was just a trivial matter.

"Is that so? Gen, your recent changes are quite significant."

Hiruzen Sarutobi stroked his beard, his eyes flickering.

In fact, in his eyes, Hyuga Gen's changes were not just 'quite significant,' but extremely significant.

Whether it was Baki and Yakushi Kabuto or Gaara, whom he fought earlier, these people were not weak in strength.

This kid, he must have been hiding his strength for a long time, right?

"Perhaps it's because I know I don't have much time left, so I want to follow my own heart a bit more."

Hyuga Gen yawned slightly and replied neither humbly nor arrogantly.

He noticed the hint of scrutiny in the Third Hokage's expression, but he didn't care much.

For a sickly person like him, aren't some changes normal?

"Because your days are numbered, you're no longer holding back?"

Hiruzen Sarutobi frowned slightly upon hearing Hyuga Gen's answer, but it quickly smoothed out.

From a personal emotional perspective, Hyuga Gen's behavior was not excessive.

After all, this kid was already at a dead end; choosing to indulge his mindset in such a situation was understandable.

As for some of the strength this kid had hidden, that wasn't too big of a problem.

There were many Geniuses in the Village. Although Hyuga Gen's performance was somewhat unexpected, his days were numbered after all.

Thinking of this, Hiruzen Sarutobi stood up and gently patted Hyuga Gen's shoulder, saying gently, "Go rest, child. If you need my help with anything, you can come find me again."

"Understood."

Hyuga Gen thanked him solemnly, then turned and left directly.

As for asking the Third Hokage for help, he didn't take it seriously at all.

If he really believed that, he would be a fool!

Didn't he notice that after all that talking, there were no substantial rewards?

Knowing something but not speaking of it is often the best choice.

Glancing at Kakashi, who was still standing outside the door, Hyuga Gen silently left the Hokage Office.

This conversation was something he had anticipated.

After all, the Anbu were not to be trifled with; any information, if not completely eliminated immediately, would quickly be reported.

Just like today, he had only brought Gekkō Hayate to the Clan Compound for one night, and the Third Hokage already knew.

That was the Hyuga Clan Compound, was the information transmitted that quickly?

"But this is good too. Today's goal has been achieved, and the rest will just wait for time to slowly ferment."

Hyuga Gen walked home, his lips curving into a smile.

After today's events, his reputation would surely undergo a qualitative change.

Although he was still that sickly person who would die soon, the current sickly person could bite!

So, until he died, it was unlikely anyone would want to provoke him again.

During this time, he could focus on doing what he wanted without worrying about being disturbed by others.

There were still about ten days until the official matches. If all went well, Hyuga Gen might even learn one of the techniques from Revolving Heaven or Twin Lion Fists.

In that case, his strength would improve to another level, which would make it much easier for him to execute his plan.

Thinking of this, Hyuga Gen began to quicken his pace, preparing to go home and Cultivate sooner.

But just then, a shadow suddenly rushed out of the alley.

"Eh? Isn't that the Little Orange Cat from before?!"

Before Hyuga Gen could react, he felt his right foot become heavy.

He glanced down; it turned out to be the Little Orange Cat that had pounced onto his shoe.

"..."

"Meow?"
