Chapter 7 Orochimaru's Test
"Gu Gu, how many times have I told you not to bite the sofa!"
Inside the house, Hyuga Gen watched the Little Orange Cat clawing at the sofa, a look of distress on his face.
The Little Orange Cat was the one that had suddenly appeared at his feet a few days ago and refused to move.
No matter how Hyuga Gen tried to shoo it away, the Little Orange Cat wouldn't leave, so he had no choice but to adopt it.
Because the Little Orange Cat liked to make 'Gu Gu' sounds when petted, Hyuga Gen named it Gu Gu.
Initially, Gu Gu seemed very well-behaved and obedient, even a bit shy.
But after it became familiar with its surroundings and Hyuga Gen's personality, the fellow immediately showed its true colors.
Over the past few days, many pieces of furniture in the house had been completely ravaged, with tears everywhere.
"Meow?"
Facing the scolding, the Little Orange Cat looked up at Hyuga Gen with an innocent expression.
Then it lowered its head and continued its mission of dismantling the house.
It had no awareness of having done anything wrong!
Seeing this, Hyuga Gen covered his forehead, saying helplessly, "Gu Gu, you're an orange cat, not a husky!"
"Meow meow!"
The Little Orange Cat meowed twice, completely dismissive.
However, it did stop its destruction of the sofa, leaping directly into Hyuga Gen's arms and exposing its belly.
"Alright, you certainly know how to enjoy yourself."
Hyuga Gen shook his head, only able to massage the Little Orange Cat.
But his gaze never left the Ninjutsu scroll on the table.
Hyuga Gen had deliberated between learning Revolving Heaven and Twin Lion Fists, and ultimately chose Revolving Heaven.
Of course, this wasn't because Twin Lion Fists wasn't strong enough, but because Revolving Heaven was more applicable to him.
One must know that due to the moon core magatama, Hyuga Gen's Chakra reserves could even rival a Jinchuriki.
So, once he mastered Revolving Heaven, as long as Hyuga Gen wished, he could even spin for an entire day without stopping.
Provided he didn't consider whether spinning for so long would make him dizzy.
Shaking his head and discarding all strange thoughts, Hyuga Gen refocused on the scroll.
After several days of diligent study, he had now initially grasped some basic applications of Revolving Heaven.
However, it was all still in the theoretical stage; Hyuga Gen hadn't yet had the chance to practice it in combat.
Firstly, because Revolving Heaven required many skills to master, he needed to slowly get familiar with and apply them.
Secondly, his sparring partner, Hyuga Neji, seemed busy these past few days, leaving early and returning late, and he didn't know what he was up to.
"Is this guy secretly undergoing special training, planning to give me a surprise?"
Hyuga Gen raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking it was quite possible.
After all, the news of his fight with Gaara on the street a few days ago had already spread.
Now everyone knew that while the sickly person wasn't physically strong, his actual power was not to be underestimated.
Given Hyuga Neji's personality, he should be more excited upon hearing this news, right?
"Hiss hiss~, hiss hiss~"
Just then, Hyuga Gen suddenly heard some movement outside the window.
The Little Orange Cat in his arms also became restless, jumping to the ground and adopting an arched-back combat stance.
"Very keen intuition, Gu Gu."
Hyuga Gen praised the Little Orange Cat, then looked towards the window.
He saw a small white snake slithering by the window, staring into the house, its gaze fixed on Hyuga Gen.
"A white snake? Didn't I move all the snakes to the Laboratory?"
Hyuga Gen was slightly startled, but quickly realized, "No, this isn't one of mine, this is Orochimaru's snake!"
Hyuga Gen immediately stood up, using his Byakugan to scan the surroundings, trying to locate Orochimaru.
But unfortunately, there were no signs of Orochimaru ambushing anywhere, only this white snake.
And when the white snake saw Hyuga Gen's actions, it flicked its tongue, then turned and slithered away.
"It's telling me to follow it... Orochimaru wants to see me?"
Hyuga Gen understood after seeing the white snake's actions, and after thinking it over, he decided to meet him.
With the enhancement of the moon core magatama, even if he couldn't defeat Orochimaru, escaping wouldn't be a problem.
Given that, he might as well follow to see what Orochimaru was planning to do.
However, Hyuga Gen also became extremely vigilant in his heart, as Orochimaru's strength was not to be underestimated.
He didn't want to be caught off guard and have things go wrong due to carelessness.
Soon, the white snake led Hyuga Gen to a secluded grove, where Orochimaru and Yakushi Kabuto emerged from the shadows.
"Tsk tsk tsk, you really are bold, kid, actually daring to follow."
Orochimaru extended his long tongue and licked the corner of his mouth, revealing a sinister smile.
Yakushi Kabuto stood silently beside Orochimaru, his gaze constantly scrutinizing Hyuga Gen.
"May I ask what Lord Orochimaru needs me for?"
Hyuga Gen shrugged, retorting without showing weakness, "Appearing so openly, aren't you afraid I'll report you to the Village?"
"Report me to the Village?"
Orochimaru observed Hyuga Gen with interest for a long while before saying, "Lord Gen, would you do that?"
Hyuga Gen smiled slightly, spreading his hands, "Who knows? After all, I did disrupt your plan, didn't I?"
"Just an insignificant fellow, what good is it to overhear information?" Orochimaru said dismissively.
He doesn't care about the impact of Gekkō Hayate being alive, as expected of you, Lord Orochimaru!
But if he's not here to settle scores, then he's interested in me?
If that's the case, maybe I can have a good talk with this guy.
Thinking this, Hyuga Gen smiled, "Lord Orochimaru, how about we make a deal?"
"A deal?"
Orochimaru looked at Hyuga Gen with interest, seemingly deep in thought.
Suddenly, he lightly raised his hand, and countless snake shadows shot out from his sleeve, lunging at Hyuga Gen.
"If you want to make a deal with me, you'll first have to prove your worth!"
"Oh?" Hyuga Gen tilted his head, "If that's the case, then I won't hold back."
Facing the Hidden Shadow Snake Hands, Hyuga Gen didn't rush to attack, but waited until the snake shadows were upon him before activating his Gentle Fist.
Silver-white Chakra covered his hands, and the incoming snake shadows were struck one by one by Hyuga Gen's palm strikes.
"Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!"
The venomous snakes, upon being hit, were instantly frozen solid, then fell to the ground and shattered into pieces.
"Good speed. But can you stop all of this attack as well?"
Orochimaru snorted coldly when he saw his attack easily neutralized, then placed his hands on the ground, opened his mouth wide, and then violently spat.
Countless long snakes crawled out of Orochimaru's mouth, followed by a horrifying swarm of snakes that swept towards Hyuga Gen like a tide, threatening to engulf him.
"Mandara of a Thousand Snakes, you really think highly of me."
Hyuga Gen remained still, allowing the snake swarm to rush towards him, and soon his entire body was covered by the snakes.
But just as the snake swarm completely converged on Hyuga Gen, a terrifying surge of Chakra suddenly erupted from the center of the swarm.
A chilling cold permeated the entire surrounding area, and then the snake swarm, from the inside out, was completely frozen.
"Crack!"
A sound of shattering echoed, and the Mandara of a Thousand Snakes ice sculpture split in two.
Hyuga Gen reappeared in view, standing atop the snake corpses, seemingly unharmed, if one didn't count the blood continuously flowing from his eyes.
