Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: A Traitor's Struggle

Era 2137, USA, New York, Solar System Federation Committee Headquarters Building.

"Hilarious. You bunch of well-trained special forces couldn't tell that the nameplates of those 'Secret Police' who arrested you were fake?"

Indeed, could they really not tell?

The matter was definitely not that simple.

First of all, the nameplates of the Solar System Federation Committee Secret Police were manufactured separately; it was impossible to produce them using the standard forgery assembly lines available on the market. This indicated that the spy who had infiltrated Seventh Base had already mastered the regional base's extremely high manufacturing technology, and perhaps even held a position within the core management.

Clearly, the Solar System Federation Committee Secret Police could not directly manage the internal affairs of Seventh Base. After all, they didn't even know the most basic information, such as Seventh Base's location.

Therefore, the Nazi remnant spies could not have been purged so quickly.

However, the information provided by the Solar System Federation Committee stated that they had already been purged. Obviously, under the supervision of all national presidents, the Premier of the Solar System Federation Committee had no opportunity to falsify information, so the intelligence Joseph and the others received must have been technically correct according to official records.

But only Kiyoyuki knew that the spies in Seventh Base could not have been eliminated that fast. Joseph and the auditing officials of the entire Solar System Federation Committee had overlooked a very important link: there was definitely someone falsifying the data.

And the person with the opportunity to falsify data was the Supreme Administrator of Seventh Base. This guy not only controlled all scientific research institutions but also held administrative and military power there. As for whether he was actually falsifying it, Kiyoyuki couldn't guarantee it, but right now, he was the only one capable of manufacturing false information. It was the only explanation at the moment.

Therefore, the team members and the Director of the Secret Police Bureau of the Solar System Federation Committee agreed to help her protect this secret from the public, and they also chose not to report it to their superiors.

"So, you mean to say that the 'Secret Police' who arrested us were actually armed forces sent by the spies in Seventh Base?" Joseph asked in confusion.

"Yes," the Director replied.

"But have you considered a problem? Since they are fakes, it's impossible for them to possess the magnetic strips that can only be produced by the exclusive direct-supply factories of the Solar System Federation Committee Secret Police, right? Every secret police officer has to swipe a magnetic strip to enter the prison. How exactly did they bluff their way through to put us inside?"

Suddenly, there was a hush in the room.

Indeed, no one had thought of this. After all, with Seventh Base's scientific technology, it wasn't impossible to manufacture magnetic strips with a high level of secrecy.

When Joseph first had this thought, his reaction led to two possibilities: Seventh Base either chose to steal them or manufacture them themselves. If they manufactured them themselves, there would be a long time lag between the Solar System Federation Committee Secret Police starting to set up these magnetic strips and the establishment of Seventh Base. If Seventh Base wanted to make the magnetic strips themselves, the only viable option was to steal.

But how did the Nazi spies get past the layers of screening to successfully steal the production rights and production technology for the magnetic strips?

The only explanation was that the entire regional base had rebelled.

Or perhaps the leader had rebelled, but the people below knew nothing about it. Since it was an instruction from the Solar System Federation Committee, they just followed orders! Ordinary scientists wouldn't consider too many political factors.

So, the problem lay with Seventh Base?

It still wasn't that simple. If Seventh Base deliberately wanted to murder them, then logically, they shouldn't have actively sent out information stating they had found a Plasma Gem. If they wanted to use the strength of the Solar System Federation Committee to help them find the gem, that was possible, but what could they do after obtaining the gem? Contact the Fourth Dimensional Civilization mentioned in the Tomorrow Party's data and destroy the world?

It did make sense, but thinking carefully, the data given by the Tomorrow Party showed that the Nazis had initiated an operation called "Project Pinhole," with the goal of resisting the Fourth Dimensional Civilization's rule over the Nazis themselves. How could the remaining Nazi remnants actively contact the Fourth Dimensional Civilization to help them? Furthermore, Hitler was currently inside the Fourth Dimensional Civilization's digital life computer. If he discovered that the Nazis were engaging in traitorous behavior, he would absolutely not sit idly by. Ernst's rebellion back then happened only because he really couldn't control the situation, leading to the collapse of the remaining Nazi party. But at the very least, the influence of Hitler's mind was still there; he wouldn't let them contact the Fourth Dimensional Civilization so easily.

Had the fanatical Nazis in Seventh Base completely defected to the Fourth Dimensional Civilization?

Joseph's theory sparked a discussion among the crowd, but they would soon stop.

Because at that moment, a bomb had already fallen from the sky above them.

Boom!
