Chapter 5 - Training Part 1

———[Bang's Dojo]——-

—--[Izuku Midorya POV]——

I breathedhard pushing my body to a whole new level of performance. It's been about two weeks since I started bangs training, and I was taking his youth classes after school every other day of the week.

*Smack*

Strike after strike, I lay into a training dummy in front of me as I counted the time left in the exercise. Normally I find it best if I don't count, but I could help myself. After about another minute of striking an alarm went off and I stopped. I glanced around at the other students around me. One in particular caught my eye.

[Name: ItsukaKendō]

[Image:

[Quirk: Giant Limbs]

[Discription: Primarily used during close-range and melee combat. Giant limbs allow the user to enlarge parts of their body. This increases their base strength and speed as well.]

Izuku first noticed her for her familiar appearance but the second thing he noticed was that her quirk was different from canon. Instead of only being able to enlarge her fists, Itsuka could enlarge any of her limbs. This was the first time he noticed a difference in quirk outside of Toga's which was only slightly different than canon.

She's not the only special person in this class that I recognise either though. There is another person this time from class 1A that I recognize.

[Name: Ojiro Mashirao]

[Image:

[Quirk: Tail]

[Description: Its just as simple as its name the plain Jane of quirks really. It grants the user a powerful, prehensile tail that functions as a strong third limb. But truth is, the user really needs to chase some tail.]

He's a fairly simple guy with not outstanding features. Even if he's here he's bound to become much stronger in this timeline than in canon. I can just imagine all the possibilities of adding a whole new limb to Bang's style of martial arts. The integration of his tail alone could make him some sort of combo master as the world has never seen.

I turned to look at Sensei Bang as he walked up and down the dojo floor. The main dojo floor was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside I'd say about half a basketball court in size. The floor was wooden but he had some standard grey tatami mats laid out for us to train on.

"Gather around everyone quickly now none of you are as old as me." He ordered with sarcasm. A few of the other kids chuckled, I noticed Kendo smile but she didn't laugh like the others. I looked back at Bang who locked eyes with me but said nothing.

'I feel like I just got caught putting my hand in the candy jar.'

He threw a smirk at me before returning his gaze to the general crowd. He looked at the rest of the kids her none older than 15 and hummed. Then he spoke in that ancient Chinese martial arts master tone of his and started dropping knowledge like rainwater.

"Alright, now we're switching to kicks. Do whatever you like but don't stop for the full minute. Remember rock stream is all about the flow of movement. You must become the stream before you can become the rock it breaks upon. And when you are ready you can crash with the force of a tsunami." He says stroking his amazing mustache as he analyzes each of us.

"Yes, Sensei!" I called out in unison with the rest of the class before turning and walking back to the training dummy.

I looked back at my dummy throwing a side kick followed by a round house. I tempered my breathing making sure not to overdraw my stamina. I couldn't tell the time sense their wasn't a clock in the dojo and I left my phone in my locker but we were nearing the end of today's class.

I started going harder on my kicksbreally try to have out that little bit of nervous energy that comes after prolonged exercise. I chained blows together trying to keep my balance while switching from leg to leg. Each of my kicks is coming faster and faster than the last.

'In my last life when I was a kid I briefly took Taekwondo. I made it all the way to green belt and I was rather talented at it. People often think Taekwondo is mainly ineffective in real combat.'

I spun firing off two roundhouse kicks before quickly shifting into a spin hook kick. It lands with a loud crack almost rocking the dummy on its feet but it stabilizes quickly enough for my next blow to land correctly.

'In most cases, they would be right.'

I slowed to regain my balance and chained together a few side and roundhouse kicks followed by a front kick. I could feel the burn in my lungs all over again but luckily for me, my stamina 3 skill restored some of my energy allowing me to keep going. I focused on flowing chaining my strikes. Being like the stream when it crashed.

'However, most people never learn that there are multiple types of Taekwondo. There is World Taekwondo (WT) (the Olympic style) and International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) (the traditional style), with WT focusing on sport-sparring and high kicks, and ITF emphasizing broader self-defense, hand techniques, and a more traditional curriculum including sine wave movements.'

My next two kicks came with a speed and clarity that I've never achieved before today at least not in this life for sure. I keep pushing and now my limits my mind raced alongside my body thoughts streaming over my previous knowledge as if combing through a library of books.

'Taekwondo originated in Korea, with roots tracing back over 2,000 years to ancient, indigenous fighting styles like Taekkyon. Developed as a martial art to train warriors during the Three Kingdoms period, it was later unified and officially named in 1955. It blends traditional Korean techniques with influences from Japanese and Chinese martial arts. But more than that Teakwondo has some of if not the strongest kicks in the world even if they're not the most practical.'

I leap up kicking and kicking each blow pushing me closer to something that I just can't quite grasp. Like it's at the tip of my younger of the edge of my finger tips I can just barely graze it. So I keep pushing, keep kicking, I soar higher and higher trying to grasp that strange feeling in my chest, in my legs, and all over my body. At some point, I stop thinking entirely and my body flows into the motions.

My surroundings fade, no sound, no sight, nothing only me, my kicks, and the dummy itself. I wanted to hang onto this feeling as long as I could but I couldn't. Because the dummy goes flying and something strange happens.

Sensei Bang catches it before it can crash into a gawking Ojiro. I stop moving and realize there was a reason I didn't hear anything anymore. I look around only to find the whole class silently staring at me like I'm some sort of spectacle or alien.

"Are you alright Ojiro?" Bang asked the tailed boy behind him. Ojiro nodes are still too stunned to speak a word.

"Everyone wait out back for a moment," Bang said calmly setting the damaged dummy. I gulped hoping I wasn't in too much trouble. Whispers fill the hall as they file out. I take a step but he cuts me off. "Not you Midoriya," is all he needs to say to stop me.

"It seems you've been holding out on me young Midorya," He says chuckling and walking closer to me. He pats my shoulder and strides past me.

"I'm sorry sensei I don't know what came over me I didn't mean to break the dummy," I say turning to follow after him. Then I blink in surprise is been so focused in the zone and then on Sensei Bang I didn't notice that the system window gave me a notification. I glance at and it's something new two things actually.

[Congratulations! A New Trait has been unlocked!🎉]

[New Trait: Happy Feet]

[Description: When chained together within ten seconds. The damage to your kicks increases by 5% per kick. Can stack up to double damage.]

[Congratulations you have unlocked your first trait!🎉 Reward first trait bonus!]

[Random bonus: You can triple the strength of any single attack once per month!]

Both of them have immense connotations for my future but I can't focus on them now as the silver sensei regrabs my attention with his next words.

"Its fine my boy and as for what happens to you that's simple you entered the zone. Though I thought it would take longer than two weeks of training. It seems I might need to pick up your training a little since you're already ready for your next belt." He says twirling his mustache as he walks over to a nearby door.

'The zone. Its been a shile but I've been in it before. Never in this life but that felt like something else.'

"Already? But Bang sensei I just started training here?" I say questioning his judgment of my talent and abilities. Sure I'm probably a bit stronger than the average person my age but I'm nothing special especially in this world.

"Indeed you have boy. In truth, I wasn't fully sure Isaac was right about your talents when we first met. Even after testing you I still wasn't 100% on it but there's no doubting it now." He chuckles opening the paper door and entering what I could only guess is a storage room.

"Oh umm well thank you, sir but I'm not really that special or anything. I mean I don't even have a quirk," I say stepping into the strange dark room after him. I look for a light switch but I don't find one so instead I wait in the doorway.

"No quirk yes I know." Then he hums, walking back over with a large cardboard box in hand. He stops before me and locks eyes with me. I stare back unsure why he stopped talking and just started looking at me. I straighten my gi a little and fix up my belt slightly wondering what he has in the box. He deepens his gaze as if searching for something in my eyes and I get a weird feeling that this moment is important.

"You have no quirk and you still want to be a hero?" He questions again his voice much more serious than before. I feel a strange sensation rippling off of him as if he's making his own heat waves.

"Yes with all my heart!" I nodded not taking a step back or yielding at all. I wasn't ashamed of my goal nor was I going to waver in my convictions. After all, if I can't even speak without shame about my goal what hope do I have of achieving it?

"Even though you know you could never match that level of power without one?" He questioned my conviction once again. Face tightening into a slight frown a strange ice filled his silver grey eyes as he looked at me. These weren't just simple questions, they were a test of his will. But what for? And why bother? Izuku didn't know but he refused to fail that exam.

"Yes!" I said again, this time even more firmly than before. I could feel the fire rising in my heart. In that moment my will grew stronger. It was odd frankly I wasn't sure why but I knew I couldn't afford to hesitate in my answer. Hearing my answer bang closed his eyes and hummed again. Then he stepped around me and walked back into the hall with the box in his hand. I turned to follow again and he stopped in the middle of the dojo. He laid the box down and sat cross-legged on the Matt beside it. Gesturing for me to sit across from him. I did so crossing my legs in a style mirroring his.

"My teachings in this class will only take you so far so quickly. But… what if I told you there was a way to match the power of a quirk without?" I perked up at his words. This world was definitely a crossover universe. Perhaps quirks weren't the only power system available in this world for me to use.

"What? How?" I questioned quickly hungering for the knowledge of how to match the strength of quirks without one. Sure I planned on getting one for all but right now that's not guaranteed. I'm under no illusion, I know that I'm not ready yet. It's the main reason why I've never tried being a vigilante. Plus if I were to go up against someone like Dabi right now I would die no questions asked.

"I'm going to take a risk on you young man. Tomorrow… come to the dojo… meet me out back by the coy pond." He said steel in his voice and I can tell whatever internal battle he's been fighting has been won.

[𝘊ongratulations you have gained the attention of: 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨!!]

[𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭: 20%]

"Ok… thank you, Sensei Bang," I say both in surprise at the revelation he's revealed to me and the increase in Bang's bond level. It became 10% not long after we met but now it's gone up to double. If I want him to teach me water stream rock smashing fist I have about two years to do it before the plot begins.

"Good now head outside with the others." He says the tone of the kind older man returning as he stands up and walks towards the back door, leaving the unopened box behind. I thought he was going to open it but that seems not to be the case. I stand up and follow him outside into the garden.

The other students stand there chatting until we exit the main dojo. The crowd grows quiet after spotting us. Their casual chatter and discussion turn into hushed whispers. It's obvious what the main subject of discussion was from their pointed stares. The only ones I truly care to see are Itsuka's and Ojiro's. For the past two weeks, I've been waiting for an opportunity to introduce myself to them both but one hasn't presented itself yet.

The old man looks upon his dojo's newest class of students "Ahem alright everyone make 5 laps around the garden and you can all go home." He announces the class grumbles a little but no true complaining except one kid with bull horns.

"Aww man, this sucks." The boy says kicking a nearby rock.

"Too little? Ten laps then!" Then Bang says cheerily causing the entire class to turn and glare at the bull-horned boy.

"Sorry guys." He says shyly. I walk over to the crowd joining them now that their attention has been diverted for the most part. I take the time to analyze the garden. It's large, very Karate Kid vibes out here, alive with nature but it's peaceful as well. There are small birds that land occasionally on different fences. A small red bridge that crosses over a large coy pond filled with colorful fish.

Smooth river stone paths connect between other dojos each path with smaller pleasant plants along it. One leads all the way back into what I can only assume is an artificial bamboo forest since most of this area is tall trees.

There's a slight breeze that carries an odd cinnamon scent along its pathway. I have no idea where that's coming from though. The sky is bright, and clear, and it's a beautiful day outside.

"Hey your Midoriya right?" A voice says from over my shoulder I turn to see Kendo walking over to me. I noticed her bright orange hair first then her brighter cyan eyes. She smiles slightly in a friendly way and it's enough to make me stand slightly more upright as she approaches.

"Yeah my name is Izuku what's yours?"

"Itsuka Kendo. Hey so uhh what you guys speak about back there?" She asks as we move from a slow pace to a jog to talk better.

"Hmm… I'll tell you what. If you can finish your laps before me I'll tell you." I smile and start to run at full speed.

"Hey wait don't cheat!" She shouts running after me. I pass several students until one keeps pace with me. Ojiro, even with all the extra weight is fast enough to keep up with me. As I run the system dings and shows me another notification.

[Congratulations! 🎉You have gained the interest of: Kendo Itsuka!]

[Bond Level 10%]

Before I can process that fully the tailed boy catches up to me "Hey I heard your little bet back there mind if I join in?" He questions a friendly smile on his face.

"Huh? Sure, my name's Izuku Midoriya by the way. Your Ojiro right?" I already know the answer of course but it'd be weird if I didn't ask.

"Yeah, nice to meet you Izuku." He says but my attention is diverted to Itsuka whose taken the opportunity from our conversation to pass me by laughing all the while. I pick up my speed again running harder as does Ojiro though he is a little behind.

[Congratulations! 🎉You have gained the interest of: Ojiro Mashirao!]

[Bond Level 10%]

I end up winning the race though when they start to tire and slow on the last lap I activate my sprint skill and win out. Itsuka pouts curly while Ojiro just laughs and pants tiredly. After that, we laugh and chat as we wait for our rides to get here. I sit with them on the temple steps as Mom arrives to pick me up first. Waving goodbye I run over to the car and hop in the back next to Izumi. Weirdly enough Toga stayed home but we made some small talk about how my day at the dojo was and what I learned today. Then the question I knew one of them would ask comes.

"So who is that girl you were talking to? The one with the orange hair." Inko's questions are tone-laced with feigned innocence but I can see her teasing smile in the rearview mirror.

"Don't even start mom please," I say tiredly my muscles aching a little already and I am a little tired even if my stamina regenerates faster than most.

"Alright alright ill let it go… for now." She laughs and I can't help but feel her storm of unasked questions and Izumi's uncomfortable silence. I glance over to my twin her gaze is distant and her eyes are lowered.

"You alright?" I ask her, she jumps and quickly reassures me that everything is fine. I nod but I'm not sure if it's true. I take a deep breath and relax on the car ride back home. Once I get there I'll shower go over those new traits or whatever and start preparing myself for tomorrow.
