Chapter 288: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

"Oh~ here he comes~ he's coming~" Rhodey muttered under his breath.

Thor strode up to Tony, grabbed him by the throat, and lifted him off the ground, pinning him against the wall. "Why would you build such a thing? I really don't understand you."

"Thor! Where did the Legion bots go?" At the critical moment, Steve stepped in to de-escalate the situation and bail Tony out.

Thor released his grip on Tony, his furious gaze gradually cooling. He turned and said, "North. I couldn't catch them. They took the Scepter."

"We need to get them back," Thor said, looking at the surrounding Avengers.

"Yes, our priority is catching Ultron," Natasha added, leaning against the wall. The celebration had turned into total chaos.

"I don't understand. Why would something you created want to kill us?" Dr. Cho asked, looking perplexed.

"Hehehe~ haha~" Tony's laughter sounded slightly unhinged.

"Mr. Stark..." Peter wanted to step forward to comfort him.

However, Silas reached out and stopped him, shaking his head. This was not the time for a teenager to offer comfort.

"You think this is funny?" Thor growled, unimpressed by Tony's reaction.

"Oh! No! It's not funny at all." Tony's lips curled up, unable to stop the laugh. It was a manifestation of stress and self-blame; his expressions were spiraling out of control.

"Don't you understand the purpose of creating him?" Tony's mouth refused to yield.

"No, no, no... Tony, it clearly wasn't the right time to bring Ultron online," Banner said, shaking his head from the back.

"And then what? We just lower our heads and play it safe whenever something happens? Just because someone points a finger at you!" Tony snapped, frustrated with Banner's passive stance.

"Who was it that told us to invent this thing?" Banner retorted.

Tony raised his hands high. "We didn't! We didn't even build him! we didn't even get the interface functional!"

Banner had no reply to that.

"One thing you're right about: the Avengers should operate independently of SHIELD," Steve said. He didn't want the next situation to involve the Avengers chasing him.

"Does anyone even remember... that I flew a nuke into a wormhole in New York?" Tony took a few steps back.

"No~ stop. It should have been me plugging that hole," Rhodey said, shaking his head.

"Does anyone want to hear about the massive alien army flying out of the wormhole while I carried a nuke inside—" Tony was cut off.

Silas stepped forward. "What we should be discussing right now is how to eliminate our common enemy: Ultron."

"How do we destroy him?" Tony asked. He naturally wanted to make amends; Ultron had to be neutralized.

"Together," Steve declared. This had always been his core philosophy.

Tony's gaze hardened. "Underoos, you can head back for now."

"Mr. Stark, I can help!" Peter stood his ground.

"You stay and guard the home front." This was the task Tony gave Peter, mostly to keep him out of harm's way.

"Listen to him," Silas opened a Shadow Portal for Peter. "Go home."

"But..." Peter looked at Silas, wondering why his brother got to stay.

"Fine." After a look from Silas, Peter reluctantly stepped into the portal and returned home.

The rest of the team looked at one another in the silence.

Morning arrived quickly. Following various leads, they located their target: the Salvage Yard.

"Avengers!" Steve shouted.

Tony quickly suited up in the Mark 45, Thor gripped his hammer, and Silas donned his Black Light Mark 40 gear. The non-fliers boarded the Quinjet and headed toward the destination.

The Salvage Yard

"Don't talk to me about Stark! He makes me sick!"

Upon arriving at the ship, the Avengers heard Ultron's voice and simultaneously glanced at Tony.

Boom!

Tony landed behind Ultron. "Junior, you're breaking your old man's heart."

"You two kids over there, we don't have to fight," Steve said, noticing the twins standing by Ultron.

Silas looked over as well: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. He couldn't help but notice that Scarlet Witch was quite impressive in person.

"We believe in peace..." Ultron began.

"If you truly believed in peace, maybe we wouldn't have to fight," Thor interrupted. Their ultimate goals were supposedly the same.

"No! My version of peace and your version of 'quiet' are two different things." As soon as Ultron finished speaking, he lunged forward, knocking Tony back.

The two armors immediately engaged in a brawl while the Iron Legion sentries launched their attack. Steve raised his shield to block while Thor was more aggressive, grabbing sentries and slamming them into the ground until they were scrap.

Silas was about to help when a blur of light flashed before him. He felt a sharp impact on his back, causing him to stumble several steps forward. He turned to look at Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, and saw that Pietro, Quicksilver, was missing from her side.

No doubt about it—that was Quicksilver.

"I haven't obtained the Rabbit Talisman yet," Silas thought, feeling the situation was a bit tricky. Without it, he couldn't match Pietro's speed or even track his movements clearly.

However, Silas had other ways to make Quicksilver reveal himself.

"I hope you can impress me, girl." The thrusters on Silas's back roared, and he closed the distance to Wanda in an instant.

Wanda was distracted by the other fights and didn't notice Silas closing in.

"No!" Pietro noticed and sprinted toward her.

Just as Silas was about to reach Wanda, Pietro arrived in the nick of time and shoved her out of the way—only to be grabbed firmly by Silas.

"Someone once told me that if you want to catch a scurrying mouse, you just have to grab his cheese." Silas gripped Pietro's wrist tightly, preventing him from running again.

Seeing her brother caught, Wanda quickly scrambled up and crept behind Silas, intending to use her chaos magic to trap him in an illusion.

Silas's Spider-Sense screamed. Without looking back, he reached out and grabbed Wanda's hand just as she was about to cast her spell.

"Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?" Silas smiled. A double victory.

Boom!

Suddenly, Tony was kicked by Ultron and sent flying directly into Silas, knocking him away.

"Sorry!" Tony scrambled up to continue his fight with Ultron.

By the time Silas recovered, Pietro and Wanda were gone.

"Sigh... well, what's done is done." Silas sighed, but his mood instantly brightened when he thought about their shadows.
