By the time this group realized they had provoked an extremely terrifying monster, it was too late to regret it.
The sharp teeth were right above his head, teetering precariously.
They were terrified, they were frightened, but they disappeared silently down the street without even uttering a sound.
Compared to leaving behind two visually striking headless corpses before, this time Li Mo devoured everyone completely, leaving not a single trace.
To those in the distance, it appeared as if the large group of people vanished the instant they rushed toward Li Mo, and they didn't witness the entire process of Li Mo eating people.
Such a large group of people vanished without a trace. Even though no trace was left behind this time, they all knew something was wrong. Something terrifying must have happened. Such a bizarre thing had never happened before, whether it was someone's head suddenly disappearing or a group of people suddenly vanishing.
Their gazes slowly fell upon the man in black standing before the high priest's door.
If no one in this world knew of the existence of gods, they would surely regard Li Mo as a monster. But gods do exist in this world, and they have always regarded non-human and unusual behavior as the power of gods.
This time, they did the same thing again.
"Was it that man who made them all disappear?"
"He's not human, he has power, is he a god?"
"Is there such a terrifying god?"
"I don't know, but God made those people disappear, those people from the Forgotten Society! Have you forgotten what they did before?! God made them disappear! It must be God punishing them!"
"Yes...you're right, it must be so. He is a god, a new god who came to the Forgotten City, and he is punishing those people!"
The residents of the Forgotten City each have their own version of events.
However, some people still doubted Li Mo's identity. To date, there had never been such a strange and eerie deity, and they dared not approach him rashly.
"Are you done?" Zhong Mu, who was hiding behind Li Mo, couldn't help but ask quietly when he heard that there was no sound.
"Hmm," Li Mo responded, his chest still making chewing sounds.
"Have you finished eating?" Zhong Mu released his hand from the child's eyes and opened his own eyes, but still didn't dare to look outside.
"There's only a little left," Li Mo replied casually.
Zhong Mu thought that what he had left might be the two corpses whose heads he had only gnawed on before, so he quickly waved his hand and said, "You should eat that too. Don't leave two corpses on the ground. I don't dare to go out."
"No." Li Mo stepped aside, revealing the scene at the doorway, and pointed to the person sitting on the ground, pale-faced and trembling, "I have one left intact."
Even if he disregarded Zhong Mu's fear of corpses, he knew that normal humans would be afraid of corpses. The two headless corpses were used to scare the group of people from before. Now that they had been eaten, he didn't need to keep the two headless corpses, so he ate them as well to avoid scaring the children and women in the house.
Zhong Mu opened her eyes and cautiously peeked outside. She saw the priest's husband sitting there, terrified, staring at Li Mo with a look of fear on his face.
"He should know why so many people came this time," Li Mo said calmly, pointing at the man.
Zhong Mu then belatedly realized that this group of people seemed to have come to find the priest. They had been saying at the door that they must summon the god, but they didn't say what their purpose was, didn't do anything, and were wiped out by Li Mo before they even entered the door.
Zhong Mu had no idea what they were there for.
"I'll go ask him for you!" Zhong Mu turned to stare at the priest in the room, rubbing his hands together. "I'm just asking for information; I won't kill him."
The priest stared lazily at the pale-faced man on the ground. "It's fine to kill him after questioning him. He's just a man I have nothing to do with anyway."
Zhong Mu smiled, then turned and walked out, striding aggressively towards the man. "Why did you come to see the High Priest with so many people this time? You mentioned summoning gods, do you have a way to summon gods?"
The man was still staring at Li Mo with a look of fear on his face, completely ignoring Zhong Mu who was standing to the side.
Zhong Mu frowned, then pulled his large red axe from his prop bag, held it to the man's neck, and glared at him fiercely. "Even if he doesn't kill you, I can. Don't waste your time with me. If you want to die, I can send you on your way."
Suddenly, a large axe was placed next to his neck. The man shrank back in fright, then looked directly at Zhong Mu in front of him and licked his lips dryly. "It was...it was the Forgotten Society that organized us to come. They said...that the City of Forgotten Things is about to perish, and if everyone wants to live like before, the High Priest is their only hope."
Zhong Mu was puzzled, "Can a high priest summon gods?"
The man shook his head. "Every high priest is connected to the gods. They inherit a bit of the gods' power and are linked to them. The people of the Forgotten Society might be able to summon the gods again by sacrificing the high priests to them!"
"Huh?" Zhong Mu looked incredulous. "Are you serious? You've killed the only pillar of your city. I don't know if the gods will descend, but death is certain. I know this city is barely surviving because of the High Priest. Are you out of your minds?!"
"What can I do!" the man stubbornly argued. "If this city continues like this, it's no different from death! Sacrificing the High Priest might give us a glimmer of hope. The High Priest sacrificed herself for this city! She died alone, yet she saved so many of us! She should have sacrificed herself for this city!"
The man's voice was very loud, and even the priest sitting in the room could hear it clearly. He was eager to defend himself and find reasons for his behavior, but he was completely unaware of how terrifying his indifference was to the priest.
"You really forgot her? Not even a trace of her? So much so that you can't even remember her when you come to take her life?" Zhong Mu felt that this man was terrifying. Putting aside important people, they had spent so many years together. If someone important to him were to die, his memory would be shaken to some extent. Even instinct would be affected, let alone memory.
But the man in front of him didn't react that way at all; he was even eager to send the priest to the altar.
"Her? Forgot? Forgot what?" The man asked, puzzled, and turned to meet the gaze of the priest in the room.
He saw the woman staring at him with a disappointed look, which puzzled him even more. He didn't know this sickly woman well, so why was she looking at him like that?
It was as if he had done something wrong.
The moment the man saw this woman, he was filled with disgust and didn't want to see her at all! So annoying!
