The island was unusually quiet…
The tide breathed slowly, and the wind carried with it a strange warmth, as if it had travelled from another time.
At the edge of the stone road leading to the harbor, she stopped.
Her hand brushed against her leather bag, and her ash-gray eyes followed a white butterfly as it landed on an old rock carved with forgotten symbols.
She didn't know why a smile found its way to her lips…
Perhaps because the butterfly reminded her of a distant meeting, or a promise that had never been fulfilled.
From between the olive trees, he appeared.
His steps were not fast, but steady—
as if he already knew she would be here…
as if the years of absence had been nothing more than passing days.
They stood facing one another, the sea behind them sketching a horizon without walls.
They did not speak—there was no need.
Their eyes said everything, translating a language only the two of them could understand—
a language of peace after every war, of silence after every scream.
Between them, the butterfly fluttered once more, then drifted away…
but the trace of its wings lingered in the air long after it had gone.
