Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Eighteen Years Later

The streets were bustling with people in the early morning, car horns occasionally blared on the roads during rush hour, and aerial vehicles streamed through the sky.

Gu Family Fast Food Restaurant

"Daughter, go slowly when you leave, don't fall."

A man's worried voice came from inside the fast food restaurant, and a figure darted out with his voice.

"Got it!"

The owner of the figure was a beautiful and spirited young girl, the daughter of the fast food restaurant owner, Gu Xiao.

"I'm off!"

Waving at the fast food restaurant, Gu Xiao didn't use any transportation. She leaned forward and pushed off with her feet.

With a whoosh, she shot out, leaving a trail of afterimages on the street.

As Gu Xiao ran, a faint, light blue glow emanated from her, drawing a long, blue arc on the road.

People on the street could only hear a series of air friction sounds, and in their peripheral vision, a blue figure flashed past.

Looking in the direction where the blue figure disappeared, they could only see a long, blue streak of light.

"Who was that? Running so fast?"

The street where Gu Family Fast Food Restaurant was located was a famous snack street nearby. The entire street had restaurants selling various dishes, and a continuous stream of people came here to eat.

"Young man, is this your first day eating here? That's the girl from the Gu family's restaurant. She exercises her spiritual power every day by delivering meals for people."

The noodle shop owner, who was delivering ramen, heard the young man's confusion and said with a smile.

Gu Xiao was quite famous around this street.

She was beautiful, spoke nicely, was perceptive, warm-hearted, and had excellent grades. She was the typical "child of another family" that parents talked about.

"She's the Jade-Faced Rakshasa, Gu Xiao!"

Upon hearing Gu Xiao's name, the young man's pupils contracted, and he exclaimed in surprise.

"Jade-Faced Rakshasa? Hahaha."

Hearing the young man's nickname for Gu Xiao, the noodle shop owner was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter.

He did know that nickname for Gu Xiao. Not just him, but basically everyone on this street knew Gu Xiao's nickname.

However, that was from when Gu Xiao was little. Children, after all, always have that period when they're a nuisance to everyone.

Although Gu Xiao had lived two lives, there wasn't much to play with when she was little, so she naturally mingled with the surrounding children.

Coupled with the fact that her male body, Jing Yuan, was born into a large family and had many things to learn from a young age, such as aristocratic etiquette and all sorts of other things.

She was just a child, yet she had to learn so many things, which often left Jing Yuan speechless, looking up at the sky.

And since she was already so tired on that side, her female body naturally had to live a more carefree life, which was also a form of relaxation.

Therefore, Gu Xiao not only didn't fail to get along with the surrounding children due to her older mental age, but she quickly became good friends with her playmates.

And during this period, it was very common for children to play and fight. Gu Xiao, having lived two lives, certainly had more combat power than ordinary children.

Gu Xiao naturally became the child king of this group of children. If her little brothers were bullied, she would grab a stick and go straight in.

Gu Xiao had high combat strength among these children and was also very cute, so she was given the nickname "Jade-Faced Rakshasa."

However, after entering junior high, Gu Xiao reined herself in, transforming from the little jade-faced devil into a well-behaved girl, and then becoming the "child of another family" in the mouths of other parents.

So, the noodle stall owner hadn't heard Gu Xiao's nickname in a long time.

The fact that this young man could call out that nickname meant he was probably beaten up by that little girl from the Gu family when he was little.

On the other side, Gu Xiao moved through the city like a gentle breeze.

In her right hand, she held two baskets of steamed buns, enveloped in a faint blue spiritual energy. Even at Gu Xiao's incredible speed, the buns remained perfectly still in her hands.

"You there, stop!"

"Get out of the way! Get out of the way! I won't be responsible if I hit and kill you!"

"Ah!!!"

Just then, a sudden clamor came from not far away.

Gu Xiao looked in the direction of the screams and saw a small hover-motorcycle careening wildly down the street.

Behind it, a patrol car was in hot pursuit, but its speed was noticeably slower due to concerns about hitting pedestrians.

The hover-motorcycle, moving swiftly, was now heading straight for a little girl. The scream had come from the girl.

Seeing the situation, Gu Xiao tossed the two baskets of steamed buns high into the air.

Then, she transformed into a gust of wind and rushed over, instantly arriving beside the little girl.

She picked up the frightened little girl, again turned into a gust of wind, and brought her to the curb not far away, setting her down.

Finally, she didn't forget to wipe away the tears from the little girl's frightened face before transforming into a gust of wind and leaving again.

When she reappeared, Gu Xiao was already beside the rogue who was escaping on the hover-motorcycle.

She reached out and turned off the hover-motorcycle, then gripped the brake with one hand and the rogue on the hover-motorcycle with the other, performing a 180-degree drift right there on the street.

"Ah!!!"

The rogue on the hover-motorcycle had already shrieked in terror the moment Gu Xiao grabbed him.

But before he could scream a few more times, he felt his entire body suddenly Swing, and he and the hover-motorcycle spun 180 degrees.

Then, before he could react to what had happened, he was flung off the hover-motorcycle, grabbed by the collar by Gu Xiao, lifted directly from the hover-motorcycle, and thrown to the ground.

Finally, Gu Xiao stepped on the rogue's back to prevent him from getting up, leaned back slightly, and extended her hand to her left-rear.

The two baskets of steamed buns descended from the sky, landing perfectly in Gu Xiao's hand.

"Clap."

"Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap..."

The people on the roadside saw Gu Xiao's series of actions. Someone clapped first, and then many others followed, applauding.

As Gu Xiao subdued the rogue, the patrol car also arrived and stopped beside them.

Two people in patrol uniforms got out of the patrol car: a middle-aged uncle and a young man who looked not much older than Gu Xiao.

"Uncle Lu, good morning."

Gu Xiao knew the middle-aged uncle; he was one of the patrol team leaders of the Yunxi City Security Bureau, and also the father of her childhood friend, Lu Li.

She and Lu Li had met in kindergarten, then attended the same school through elementary, middle, and high school, making them good sisters who grew up together.

Lu Li's family lived in the community behind their street, and the two often played together, so they were no strangers to each other's parents.

"It's you, Gu girl. Are you helping your family deliver takeout again?"

Lu Yong got out of the patrol car and said with a smile, looking at Gu Xiao, who had the rogue pinned under her foot.
