Chapter 1 - PRELUDE

At the furthest corner of the Human Empire, inside a huge cave located at the top of the Ashwing Highlands

A group of adventurers were fighting against a huge dark wyvern, one of them holding a blade coated with mana, was charging head-on straight to its wide-spread wings.

"SHINNNNNGGGG"

"RRRRRAAAAAWWWWWRR"

"Good Job, Nathan! Now it can't fly away!"

Nathan now backed away from the injured wyvern.

"Stay Sharp, Mark. It may be down and injured, but it still would make you its dinner in one bite. Remember, its instincts make it predictable. Mark and Logan now help me lead the wyvern into the trap we've prepared. Once it's in place, Zoe and Leah quickly activate the gravity formation "

"Right!"

The wyvern, now unable to fly away and blinded by rage towards the human who injured it, charged straight towards Nathan, completely forgetting about the other adventurers behind it. Mark, taking advantage of its rage, struck with his gauntlets.

"Booooom"

The wyvern, led by its momentum, stumbled right into the centre of the formation, completely missing Nathan, who just jumped to the side.

"Now!"

Zoe and Leah immediately activated the gravity formation. Leah, being a healer, didn't know anything about formations and just injected the formation with raw mana, while Zoe, being a B-ranked mage, expertly guided the mana towards the weaker parts of the hastily constructed formation where the mana stones could not reach.

"RRRrrrrrrr"

The wyvern was immediately flattened to the ground, where it bore such pressure that it couldn't even open its mouth, yet it still struggled towards Nathan.

"Now, Logan, kill it, but remember to aim for its head."

Logan released his bone arrow, which flew slowly in a graceful arc towards the wyvern. Whereupon coming into the range of the gravity formation, it slammed straight through its brain, wyvern's struggles ceased as the light in its eyes faded.

Nathan walked slowly towards his body, eying it cautiously, looking for signs of life as the girls deactivated the formation. Finding none, he let out a breath of relief, signalling to the others that the fight was over.
