Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 : A Taste of Freedom

Love Behind the Kremlin Walls

Sasha's heart was still racing as she emerged from the alleyway, the city lights blinding her after the darkness of her hiding place. She had managed to evade the KGB agents, but she knew it was only a matter of time before they tracked her down. She needed to find Jack, and fast.

As she walked, she took in the sights and sounds of the city. The streets were alive with people, laughing and chatting as they went about their evening routines. Sasha felt a pang of longing, remembering the freedom she had once taken for granted.

She hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address of a small café on the outskirts of town, where she and Jack had agreed to meet if they got separated. The drive seemed to take forever, Sasha's anxiety growing with every passing minute.

Finally, the taxi pulled up in front of the café. Sasha paid the driver and got out, scanning the crowded room for a glimpse of Jack's familiar face.

He was sitting in the corner, sipping a cup of coffee and looking every bit the suave American businessman. Sasha's heart skipped a beat as he caught her eye and smiled.

She slid into the booth across from him, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "I made it," she whispered, her eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger.

Jack's expression was grim. "I knew you'd make it," he said, his voice low. "But we need to get out of here, now. The KGB is looking for you."

Sasha nodded, her mind racing. "I know. I managed to escape, but they won't give up easily."

Jack tossed some money on the table and stood up, pulling Sasha with him. "Let's go."

They made their way through the crowded streets, Sasha's senses on high alert as they navigated the winding alleys and side streets. Finally, they reached the safety of the West German embassy, where they were greeted by a relieved-looking diplomat.

"Welcome, Sasha," he said, shaking her hand. "We've been expecting you."

Sasha felt a surge of excitement as she stepped into the embassy. She was finally going to experience the freedom she had only dreamed of.

As they were led to a secure room, Jack turned to her and smiled. "You're going to love this," he said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

The diplomat, a friendly-looking man named Herr Müller, smiled and handed her a passport. "You're now a citizen of West Germany, Sasha. You're free to go wherever you like."

Sasha felt a rush of excitement as she took the passport, feeling the weight of it in her hand. She was finally free.

As they spent the next few days exploring the city, Sasha felt like a kid in a candy store. She marveled at the bright lights and bustling streets, trying new foods and drinks and laughing with Jack.

But amidst the excitement, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was living on borrowed time. The KGB would never give up looking for her, and she knew she couldn't stay in the West forever.

But for now, she was going to enjoy the taste of freedom, and the company of the man she was falling in love with.

As they sat in a small café, watching the sun set over the city, Jack turned to her and smiled. "I have a surprise for you," he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Sasha raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

Jack pulled out a small box and opened it, revealing a beautiful diamond ring. "I love you, Sasha," he said, his voice low and husky. "Will you marry me?"

Sasha's heart skipped a beat as she looked at the ring, and then at Jack. She knew she loved him, and she couldn't imagine spending her life with anyone else.

"Yes," she whispered, as Jack slipped the ring onto her finger.

As they hugged, Sasha knew that she had finally found her freedom, and her happily ever after.
