Chapter 27 - A Genius at Making Energy Cubes

Late at night, when everything was silent.

Inside the dark bedroom of the villa.

Ralts slowly opened its eyes and quietly lifted its head to look toward the bed across the room. The boy lay there with his eyes closed, breathing steadily, already fast asleep.

Then, with a familiar Teleport, Ralts vanished from the room.

At the same time, inside the room where Oliver stored his materials, Ralts suddenly appeared out of thin air.

To make energy cube production more convenient, Oliver had placed the energy cube machine in this room as well, saving time when gathering materials.

Ralts walked up to the energy cube machine.

This is the machine the Master uses to make delicious food… but how do I use it?

Ralts began recalling Oliver's actions over the past few days when he made energy cubes.

It seemed like he put in these materials… then this one, and this one…

Following its memory, Ralts used its psychic power to take out one material after another and place them into the machine.

The order and quantities were exactly the same as Oliver's.

Not a single mistake.

This was the advantage of Ralts as a Psychic-type Pokémon.

As the machine started up, the materials inside were gradually broken down and recombined. Finally, before Ralts' eager eyes, they turned into a pale purple, thick liquid.

Then—

The machine stopped.

Ralts tilted its head in confusion and patted the top of the machine with its small hands.

Why did it stop? This isn't how it looks when Master does it… Did I do something wrong?

No matter how much Ralts thought about it, there was no way it could figure out the system-exclusive method Oliver used to make energy cubes.

Although the thick liquid was different from what Oliver usually made, it still gave off a faint fragrance. Afraid of being discovered, Ralts decided to "clean up the scene" and quickly ate all of it.

"Ralts~"

Even if it doesn't look right, it still tastes pretty good!

Unwilling to give up, Ralts decided to learn through practice and tried again.

The result was the same—another pile of thick liquid, still far from Oliver's finished product.

Looking at the liquid, Ralts was certain it had followed every step perfectly, yet something was still missing.

Even though it was confused, Ralts once again ate up the failed product. Fortunately, while it wasn't the real thing, it still tasted quite nice.

After that, Ralts didn't continue anymore—it simply couldn't eat any more.

With no other choice, it restored the machine to its original state and teleported back to its small bed.

The next day, when Oliver went to make energy cubes, he keenly sensed that something felt off in the room, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was. In the end, he treated it as his imagination.

However, he noticed something strange—today, Ralts was far more energetic than usual during training.

Even when its training volume exceeded the plan, it still looked lively, with no sign of fatigue.

Over the next few days, Ralts continued sneaking out at night to try making energy cubes on its own—but every attempt ended in failure.

Still, it never gave up.

After all, that was something Master had taught it.

Finally, one day when Oliver entered the materials room again, he realized something was clearly wrong.

A large amount of materials had visibly decreased.

After counting carefully, Oliver discovered that enough materials for ten energy cubes were missing.

"Did a thief break into the house? That doesn't make sense… These materials aren't even valuable. Why steal this and not the expensive stuff?"

Completely baffled, Oliver decided to install surveillance cameras.

Even if the items weren't expensive, he couldn't just let this go—he had to catch the thief.

As the sun rose once more, Oliver checked the materials again after waking up.

Sure enough, even more had gone missing.

"Well, well. Stealing right under my nose, huh? Let's see if I don't catch you today."

Oliver turned on the surveillance footage. With night-vision mode, even the pitch-dark room was crystal clear.

Finally, a little past 1 a.m., a small white figure suddenly appeared in the room.

Seeing it, Oliver exclaimed in surprise:

"Ralts? Don't tell me it likes eating berries?"

In the video, Ralts skillfully placed various berries into the energy cube machine. It was clearly a repeat offender.

What shocked Oliver even more was that Ralts' operation process was identical to his own.

At the end of the video, Ralts wiped its mouth, cleaned up the "scene," and quietly retreated.

Oliver rubbed his temples.

"So that's it… This little one has been sneaking out every night to eat. No wonder it's so energetic during the day."

Back in the bedroom, Oliver woke Ralts up and brought it to the materials room.

At first, Ralts thought Master was going to make it something delicious and happily followed along.

Then it saw the monitor.

Every single action it had taken was displayed clearly on the screen.

Ralts' face instantly turned pale. Feeling guilty, it lowered its head and instinctively tried to teleport away.

"Come here."

Ralts froze, then obediently walked over to Oliver.

It thought it was about to be scolded, but instead Oliver calmly said:

"Do it again. Show me exactly how you did it."

Ralts looked at Oliver in confusion, but still complied.

After another round of操作, the familiar thick liquid appeared.

Oliver leaned forward, smelled it, then dipped a finger in and tasted it.

His eyes widened in surprise.

Although it wasn't a solid cube, the energy contained inside was already comparable to a mid-grade energy cube.

In other words—

Using only ordinary materials, Ralts had created something equivalent to a mid-level energy cube.

"This is…"

Oliver looked at Ralts in disbelief.

"This is genius."

The reason Ralts' product differed from Oliver's was simple—it lacked the system's special method.

According to the system, energy cube production had three key points:

The order and quantity of berries.Removing impurities and refining the energy within the berries. The most important step: using the reactions formed when different berries fuse to increase energy density.

This third step was the core reason Oliver could make top-tier energy cubes using common materials.

And steps two and three both required special techniques.

Ralts had only observed the first step—yet it still managed to make a mid-grade energy cube.

That alone was already astonishing.

If Oliver taught Ralts the system-provided method…

Wouldn't that mean he could eventually leave energy cube production entirely to it?

The thought made Oliver's heart race.

He turned to Ralts seriously and asked:

"Ralts… do you want to learn how to make energy cubes?"
