When I woke up, I felt light, as if I had lost too much weight. The first thing I thought was that by some miracle I had managed to survive.
I instinctively frowned, but when I opened my eyes, I saw something I never thought I would see.
A serious-looking woman was staring at me strangely, as if she were afraid and disgusted?
"What's wrong with her? Do I have something on my face?" I thought when I saw her reaction. It was strange and made me feel uncomfortable.
When I turned my attention back to the woman in front of me, I noticed her quickly approaching a specific spot, as if something had happened.
The only thing that happened was that she left me somewhat abruptly leaning on something. I say abruptly because she let go of me before I was properly supported.
"I can't move," I thought. I wanted to move, but I could barely move my arms.
When I managed to raise both arms in front of me, I was speechless. They were small.
They looked like those of a newborn... "No way..."
I quickly turned my gaze back to the woman from before, but she was gone. I tried to speak and ask what was going on, but nothing came out. I couldn't even talk.
At most, I could only manage a "Haa-Ahh." If what I saw was true, did that mean I had been reincarnated?
No way, I didn't even watch anime, at most I read a reincarnation story once or twice.
What am I supposed to think? And what kind of way is this to treat a newborn?
I spent several minutes without seeing anyone else. The only thing I could see was the ceiling of the room. I had to admit it was nice and seemed to be of good quality.
"Finally!" I thought, seeing the same woman again today. Now that I looked closely, she had ears on top of her head...
"Hmmm. What is this?" What is this woman supposed to be?
I looked at her seriously, not wanting to look away from her. Apparently, she didn't like my action, judging by the expression on her face, which was the same as today's.
I don't know the reason behind that reaction, but she took me in her arms in a way that made me not want to get too close to her.
"She's the one with dog ears on her head, and she's the one giving me dirty looks."
How rude. When I turned around, she went up to another woman, who, unlike this one, was normal. Or so I think.
She had silver hair and white skin with deep blue eyes. From her clothes, it looked like she had just given birth or something similar.
She was all sweaty, and her clothes were just a kind of thin white T-shirt, something quite light at first glance.
Like the dog woman, she looked at me... With disappointment? What am I supposed to have on my face for her to look at me this way?
"Ahh-Waa!" were my pitiful complaints at their stares. I couldn't speak properly, and it was too annoying.
After several seconds, this woman took me in her arms. Unlike the other one, she brought me close to her chest while looking at me in a way that seemed to analyze me.
"X—X–XX," were her words in a calm tone as she kept her gaze on me.
It was a language I had never heard before, and I could barely make out any meaningful words.
The idea that this place was no longer my world became more and more evident.
All of this scared me a little... Were these people good people? Had my parents come to this place too?
Whatever the case, I had to look for them, if there was any chance.
Her face was difficult to understand. The woman holding me in her arms didn't know what to think when she looked at me.
She didn't seem happy or joyful at all. I assumed that this woman must be my mother in some way.
Her expression seemed to show disappointment and discouragement. Did she feel all that because of me? But I had only just appeared in this world.
Tash!
A sound appeared, and thanks to my position, I could see that it was coming from the door.
It had been opened by the dog woman, and behind her came an... Elf? If I had been an otaku, I would surely have been excited...
Was this world going to be the same as the little I knew about isekai, a world where different species exist and you become the strongest of them all?
"How stupid..." I thought.
I looked at the two women in front of the gate, both dressed similarly, both wearing maid outfits.
That type of clothing existed in my world, so it didn't seem strange to me at all to think they were maids.
They had both bowed, but I noticed the elf's gaze directed at me. She had a cold stare fixed on me as if I had done something to her.
"What kind of world is this... Why is everyone looking at me like I owe them money?"
I thought jokingly, all this was a bad joke, not long ago I was in my world and I had been killed.
In the end, I don't know what they talked about because I don't understand the language, but whatever it was, they left me in the arms of this elf. Once they handed me over to her, we left the room and headed for who knows where.
As she held me in her arms, I looked up and studied her. She looked very good for a non-human, but she had that emotionless look in her blood-red eyes.
