Chapter 5 - Girls Talk

...

My head was feeling so in the clouds that I couldn't believe it. I mean, a beautiful girl called Michelle came up to me on her own and... she talked to me so easily!

What is this? Have I suddenly become popular with girls now?? No, wait a second here... how is that possible? Although I don't doubt my looks in this life, it would make no sense to have girls falling for me left and right all of a sudden! After all, I ain't no boy in this strange world.

Ah, that's maybe it. A girl... I am a girl this time around. It must be easy for a girl to approach another and talk casually.

Yeah, it's got nothing to do with attraction or stuff like that. The girl was just curious about me and felt like chatting for a bit.

Besides, didn't she ask me about the boys just earlier? There, that's the proof right there that she holds no subtle motives with me.

After realising the truth, I felt somewhat deflated, realising that even my good looks and charm have a limit. They can't help me get the girls throwing themselves at me.

If someone like me, who is not so good at speaking to girls, wants to become popular with them, then getting used to speaking with beautiful girls is a must!

Only practice makes things perfect.

As I stared at Michelle seriously for a moment, I found her appearance to be so nicely proportioned, and the calm yet quiet vibe that she gave me made the sense of 'serenity' about her dominate my impression of her.

I had heard from my sister that all-girls' schools in the world tend to be super chaotic. Michelle, however, seemed to be on the other end of that spectrum.

She is still so peaceful, so calm... so pure that it's glaringly obvious.

A good girl. She might be a rare good girl in this world. Although saying this makes me feel bad about my cute little sister, who is always supportive of me, my sister is a bit mischievous sometimes.

And then, I realise my mistake again. I had been thinking so much for so long instead of replying to Michelle's query that I began to panic. It wouldn't be strange if she left me behind with no response given to her words.

"Oh, sorry about spacing out like that. My name is Monica Gold. I have been home-schooled from little till now, and this happens to be my first time attending a school. I-I look forward to be friends with you."

"Hehe, nice to meet you too. Let's get along from now on, dear friend."

Ohh..! Her smile is so... she is so darned cute!!

A-Am I falling in love?? No, wait... hold on to the reins for a while. It's no good to jump to conclusions here. I must not freak her out with my actions.

First impressions are important. It's best that I show my gentlest and friendliest self in front of her right now.

The boys of this world generally don't talk to girls often. Rather, they are wary of the idea of being approached by girls.

No worries here, though! Even if I used to be a boy in a past life, I am totally a female this time!

"So, I was asking regarding the boys. Do you have one that you like?"

Ohh? Michelle seems quick to return to the topic at hand. Yep, she must be very interested in having this kind of girl talk with me.

Well, considering that I have no interest in boys, I think it would be better to just be affronted about it. No point in putting up a false image in my daily life. There is no point in trying to be someone that I am not. Still, there are better ways of putting that point across, I think.

"Um... sorry. I don't have anyone that I like at present. Rather, I... feel a bit scared of them."

Sorry, I ended up lying just a bit. And no, I am not scared of any of them in reality. Still, I need to have a plausible reason not to swoon over boys in this world, right? Otherwise... everyone might end up categorising me as a freak instead!

Michelle's eyes sparkled with delight as she moved closer to me, suddenly and spoke up excitedly,

"Ohh! M-Me too! I had been so afraid that I was the only one who felt nervous and uncomfortable around them. Everyone around me kept on singing praises about boys, but I haven't seen a nice one since I was born to this day."

Whoa... talk about a sudden change in attitude! Going from being a demure, soft-spoken lady to an excited, chatty and lively girl in an instant! What a sudden transformation... even Power Rangers didn't transform that quickly.

Well, I like her in both styles, so it works for me! And, she's really not good with men? Unlike the faking me, her apprehension towards them feels genuine... lucky me!

"Is that so? But those around me didn't have much experience with boys. I just found it hard to approach them, so I couldn't try getting along with them. The few times I saw them, they were being all rude and angry whenever approached by girls. They didn't even bother replying properly to normal talk, even by the teachers!"

Let's be honest here, I was just spewing bullshit at this point, since this was my first time being at school in this life. All of that was told to me by my little sister, as she often had to deal with them when chosen as the class representative. She complained to me about them while hugging me to sleep, grumbling about them all the time. Such a cute and adorable little sister, right? Who wouldn't want to dote on such a precious sibling? Not me!
