Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The first thought I had when I woke up was:

I'm alive.

The second was:

Why am I naked and green?

I opened my eyes in a panic and tried to sit up… or rather, I tried to. My body moved with unnatural lightness and I ended up dropping to my knees on something soft and wet.

"Okay," I muttered. "Wet floor. Normal. Nothing weird."

I looked around.

Swamp.

Murky water. Low fog. Massive plants. The kind of place you definitely shouldn't wake up in without memories and without clothes.

I looked down.

Light green skin. Smooth. Shiny. Long, muscular legs clearly designed for jumping. Slim arms with webbed fingers. And a humanoid torso…

…far too humanoid.

"…No."

I took a closer look.

Curves. Hips. Breasts. A clearly feminine body, just… amphibian.

"I'm not a frog," I said, analyzing myself.

Pause.

"I'm a monster girl."

That was worse. Much worse.

Before I could fully panic, a window floated in front of my eyes.

Name: Ribbitina

Race: Frog — Monster Girl

Level: 1

Status: Disoriented but Alive

"Ribbitina…" I sighed. "Out of all the possible options, that's the one?"

I rubbed my face and felt something strange on my head. I touched a bit higher.

"Ears? No."

I reached further back.

"…Small gills?"

Great. I couldn't even drown with style.

The window flickered again.

Skill Acquired:

[Basic Amphibian Jump]

"Ah. Of course."

I stood up carefully. My balance was perfect. Too perfect. I crouched a little to test it—

I jumped.

A lot.

Way too much.

I crossed the entire clearing in a single leap and landed upright on a rock without even wobbling.

I stayed still.

"…That was impressive," I admitted. "Terrifying, but impressive."

I walked over to the water to look at my reflection.

An amphibian girl stared back at me. Big eyes, golden pupils, dark hair clinging to her face from the humidity. Cute. Way too cute for someone trapped in a swamp.

"This is an isekai," I concluded. "And one with terrible character design decisions."

A giant insect flew past me.

My tongue shot out without warning.

It caught it.

I froze.

"No," I said calmly. "We're not starting our relationship like this, new body."

I spat the insect out with dignity.

"I'm a monster girl. I have standards."

A noise startled me.

"Do you see her?" a human voice whispered. "I told you there was a frog girl!"

I slowly turned around.

Three people stood at the edge of the swamp. A warrior, a mage, and a priest. All of them stared at me like they had just unlocked a secret quest.

"She's… cute," the mage said.

"They say frog girls bring good luck," the priest murmured. "Maybe if someone—"

"DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT," I said, crossing my arms. "No kissing, no cages, no weird quests."

They didn't listen.

I sighed.

"Okay," I muttered. "Minor violence."

I activated my skill.

[Basic Amphibian Jump].

Mud exploded. All three of them fell backward, covered in sludge and poor life choices.

I landed gracefully on a nearby rock.

I looked at them. I looked at myself.

"Great," I said. "I reincarnated as a frog waifu…"

"—and now I'm a swamp event."

Croak.
